Monday 15th June 2009 @ 19:00pm.

Flash warnings of severe or extreme weather
These are issued when the Met Office has 80% or greater confidence that severe weather is expected in the next few hours.

London & South East England:
   Buckinghamshire
   Milton Keynes
   Oxfordshire

Slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop into this evening. These showers have the potential to give local rainfall totals of 20 to 30mm in 3 hours or less, possibly in excess of 50mm in one or two places

Slow moving heavy showers and/or thunderstorms with local hail are expected this afternoon and are likely to last through into the evening. These showers have the potential to give local rainfall totals of 20 to 30mm in 3 hours or less, perhaps in excess of 50mm in one or two places.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

I have never seen our roads that bad before, some people turned round as couldnt get through.

Indeed I do but my place of employment is at the bottom of the same hill

Another usual fact is that the Luton main sewer runs down the middle of our plant roadway ( underground ) last year and the year before, in the heavy rain the sewer covers all blew off and we had 18" of raw sewage floating about
