A 25.25m (83ft) long so-called super lorry has been blocked from being driven on public roads by police in Lincolnshire.

Police said the vehicle was unlawful due to its length, not something Management has ever said

No so much of a problem on the motorway, but just imagine the thing trying to negotiate town centre roundabouts and you being on the inside of it

EDGE

it says it turns in the same space as a normal one though

are you thinking of motorbikes sneaking up the sides of it... if so... tough....

Big Mouse

I'd like to see one get out of our estate where lorry drivers often think they can cut through only to find a 10ft high bridge in front of them; they have to reverse out at an acute angle to avoid either hitting parked cars or ending up in the lake - one of those would be here until it rots away or is cut up into smaller bits

Dont go up the inside then.....   If you can't see his mirrors.............

Cunning Plan

Hmm, arguments for and against this thing.. Less lorries on the road would be a good thing but imagine trying to over take that in an under-powered car on an A road whilst it is pootling along at 40! Along with the around-town argument.. Maby it could be limited to Motoways and major A roads with depots to pull into and transfer into 7.5 tonners, like a land-train
1968 VW T2 Bay Bus (currently being restored and upgraded)
1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ (modern classic daily driver)

Shifty

If there starting to consider lorries that long for transportation of goods then why don't they start using the rail infrastructure more, like they should be doing already. Hell there even calling it the road train, why not just use a train.

Get the F'ing lorries of the road and free up some of the congested road system. Every day I have to filter through serious congestion on the M1 which wouldn't be a problem if the two lanes of lorries weren't there blocking everything up.

Major RANT over this as lorries create jobs and is quite an inefficient way of moving stock around the country.

My apologies to any lorry drivers on here but lorries are a F'ing menace to the road and should be cut down on. Put funding back into the rail network and get it working again.

I've seen a few cyclists do this but never a motorcyclist.

I think merely being on two wheels is different from being on two motorised wheels.

As far as the truck goes . . . . I suppose it'd work if it was going to certain depots.

ie. Alot of companies have depots / distribution hubs right on the motorway (or should I say just off of the M-way) so going through towns and estates wouldn't be an issue.

As long as the routes were pre-determined I can't see the problem but agree that it's not an option for countryside / town driving.

EDGE

i can see shifties point in using the rail net work, BUT the lines dont always necessarily go where they need to... most depots are now built alongside motorways rather than train lines like they used to be....

any ways...

bolox to the lot of ya.... BRING BACK THE CANALS !!!!!

saw that on the news - very interesting method of steering - the middle wheels turning as well!!!

Donkeys..... They can go anywhere.....

you gotta love the way bikers expect all other traffic to avoid them including 40 ton trucks when they are the most agile things on the road

I'm sure my bike has a massive magnet under the seat as every other vehicle on the road seems to do their absolute best to try and hit me !!
