Only Porsche, with its long legacy of pricey options, would consider charging you $1,700 for a starter battery

To be fair, this isn't just any old 12-Volt lead-acid starter battery. It's a lightweight, lithium-ion pack with a similar form factor and the same mounts as a standard battery and it fit's the Cockster & 911

OK, so that's the top.  Where's the rest of it

Well that's just daft, even the best li-ion batteries don't do more than a 1,000 charge cycles before degrading to below 80% charge (most hit that at 300 cycles) and they don't like cold weather and if you don't keep close control on the charging they explode.  They do the same if they are ruptured in an accident.
