Since this ad was aired the billboard has rotted away in true Italian fashion...

EDGE

See. This us the Lind of sh1t that marketing companies dream up. I bet it's added £1 on to the cost of each car. They could, therefor, have gone lower by not sinking a damn sign!!!!

daveyboy

good job it was just an ad board. imagine putting an actual alfa in salt water

Andy

Waiting 11 hours for that thing to sink!! Would've cut the line and been done with it.

Fieldy

I could think of better ways of spending 11 hours of my life.

I like the concept of the idea though, a little imagination.

Big Mouse

Utterly pointless; no one will ever see it and it certainly won't sell any more Alfas

Ah but we all watched the video and wouldn't have done otherwise, probably a case of any publicity is good publicity

F Body

It would seem that the conspiracy theories are already out

"There's a couple of inconsistencies in this video that lead us to believe that this stunt isn't all it seems to be:

1) The video claims they're traveling to a point 21 miles off the coast of Guam. Challenger Deep is 190 miles from the island.

2) Only three successful descents have ever been made to the bottom of Challenger Deep, one manned and two unmanned, yet the ad appears to feature footage of the ad on the sea floor.

3) The video claims that water pressure at the sign's final resting place is 1,000 times that of the atmosphere at sea level. In fact, the pressure at the bottom of Challenger Deep is 1,099 times that that of the atmosphere "

In fairness I don't think you can judge the worthiness of an advert based on what we'd watch on here

-: Pedantic mode on -

The depth is estimated at 11,000m with an accepted variation of no more than 100m. 1 atm = 33 ft or approx 10.3 m urgo 11000 m roughly equals 1067.96 atm

- pedantic mode off :

We did a calculation once (for fun) to work out how much air we would need to take with us in order to be abe to breathe 'normally' at 10000m for one minute (well aware that we'd be dead long before we got there) on open water scuba gear. Worked out at hundreds of 1000's of cubic feet equivalent to strapping a petrol tanker to your back

philoldsmobile

although to be fair, i seriously doubt there is any billboards anywhere lower... even if it was 500 ft below sea level.
