M1 Shut - AVOID !!!!!!!!

Just got back from Kettering and the M1 is stuffed

It's completely shut north bound between 13 and 14 or may be even 15

South bound is very very slow all the way to J10 Luton Airport

AVOID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such a beautiful day and about a dozen cars crumpled flat north bound



I'd imagine that the traffic must be backing down to London

it never fails to amaze me how people cant drive in a straight line without hitting other cars...

It used to be the worst accidents occurred in bad weather, such as fog, heavy rain etc

According to the Highways Agency they now happen in the best weather with good visibility

They aren't, it only takes one to make a mis-judgement on a lane change and not see the car overtaking..... Quite easy if you have 2 kids and 2 dogs in the car with a wife trying to lean over and sort an issue out.

Not everyone is poodling along in the fast lane at 85 with no changes.

We are encouraged to drive during the day with our lights on, just like Arriva buses do it by company policy... apparently this is hard to see...

I bet it did but mainly beause the Police have a new lunatic policy

If the Motorway is closed, they don't post it on the gantry signs or put the news out on the radio, because in there words " It's better to retain the traffic on the motorway rather than flood surrounding routes "



So people were not given the option of using the A5 , A1M , M40 etc but forced to sit for up to 5+ hours on the M1
