Time to blow the dust off of this methinks . . .

I'm very nearly in a position to start work on the 'Maro again . . .

Next job :

Buy a battery (Optima Red) and fabricate suitable battery tray and fit.

What this space . . .

Work has officially begun again on the 'Maro . . . nothing ground-breaking but definate progress.

I'll order the battery tomorrow (payday), too.

Roadkill

what was done then ???

O.K . . .

I spent a couple of hours on saturday making templates and marking out where the scoop is gonna go.  The hood is all marked up and ready for cutting . . .

Then I unpacked and checked new radiator then modified it to fit the third gen (it's a 4th gen rad).
Sat it in it's new position . . designed and drew-up the top fixing bracket (now PhilO's job).
Fitted the Coolant sensor in said rad - to plug the hole - and fitted the cap.

Refitted the Spal fan.

Next I went through the old 3rd / 4th Gen rad hoses to cobble together the main rad pipes . . . I kinda got there but am currently looking at new silicone ones (watch thish space).

Then I cut and fitted the vacuum pipe.  Then fitted a bung over the other (not needed)

Next I began replacing the rubber lines with hard ally tube.

The Valve cover breather-to-carb tube was formed and fitted.  Next the old, rusty steam/vent tube was cut of and a new one-piece formed and fitted.
Then came the brake booster-intake pipe (which later had to be modified to clear the air cleaner).  I managed to use a fitting I already had for the intake end which was a nice bonus.
Then I run a hardline from the overflow to the rad.

Next the P/S valve cover and the alternator was removed (ready for later work).

The fuel line was trimmed and completed.

Next I measured up for some pipe adaptors (another PhilO job) - I need these to effectively delete the heater and delete the oil cooler (which is more trouble than it's worth, apparently).

The dizzy cap was cleaned and re-fitted.  As was the leads.
I also added lead-tags to make it easier in future.
The new dizzy stud and clamp was fitted.

Finally I spent about an hour deciding on the final air clear base / lid / filter and even which air cleaner NUT I was using ! (this was when the booster tube needed modding !)
Said assembly was then removed again so I could close the hood !

I think that was it.

Have ordered a selection of straight and ribbed ( ) pipes to finish off the main rad pipes.

The plan - long term - will be to replace all with silicone tubing but for now rubber will do.

After some research and brain-storming I've also opted to "bung" the ends where the oil cooler plate connects instead of connecting them.  This'll free up further space in the engine bay and reduce immediate costs.

Andy

Is it going to be a show or go car? There is a guy over this way who specialises in blowing glass rad tubes and the like.
