Andy

Haven't read the whole thread but are you running after market springs/coilovers on the front or regular stock springs?

We nearly died last time!! as did the spring compressor...

Indeed. <-- (Or something more robust than a sofa)

Tut-tut.

Eibach Sportline springs / Tokico (adustable) shocks.

But you'd know that if you read the thread . . . .

Start from page 9-ish . . . . there's lots of pretty pictures so you won't actually need to read much.

Jamieg285

Are the springs mounted to the shocks, or can the shocks be removed without touching the springs?

Reason I ask is that I have a decent Span-On spring compressor, but its the internal type.

Andy

Sorry, will have some bed time reading to do!

That front end looks fierce though!

I'm assuming there's a picture there that answers my question.

Unfortunately I can't see any of Dean's progress pics whilst at work

( The struts are independent of the springs )

yeah its a pic of the passenger side front low down showing the setup!

Anyway - with minor (albeit long-winded) adjustment it's now connected and appears to be operating the heavy Ram clutch below (won't know for sure if everything's O.K until the motor's running, obviously).

dead easy to check;

jack one back wheel of the car up (not both) put it on gear, press clutch, wheels should turn, release clutch, driveline should be locked. if this doesn't happen, something isn't working

Titsy

Would need to be both wheels as it has an LSD...

Roadkill

Yeah, thanks, PhilO, I am aware as to how to check if the clutch is engaging or not . . .

Roadkill

Here's a piccy taken earlier . . . the cowl is obviously just sitting on the hood but it gives you an idea . . . that's one of the next jobs . . . .

the cowl

That's not as extreme as I was expecting.  Looks like it will fit the existing body lines really well.

I wanted to keep it bare minimum . . . that said that's a 4" Cowl - so not small.

Just hope it all fits under THAT !!

Andy

Looks fierce!

What plans are for paint? Looks a little faded but i image that could be mopped back.

Funny you should say that as I was looking at some pictures taken not that long ago last night and she really does polish up well - just suffers with the "red paint syndrome".

Black.  Gloss or Satin - but NOT Matt.

She looks a bit different now . . . .

The nose-cone is back off !

The lights have all been removed and stripped down, ready for the buckets to be blasted so the new lights can be fitted.

Removed the front indicators (RH side has a smashed lense so I need to be on the look-out for a replacement . . . . or modification ?)

Took some support brackery off, too, which I'm hoping to avoid putting back on . . .

Also removed the under hood catch, release and spring as they won't be being used again.

Also removed the moulded rubber section (that keeps the nosecone's shape) from the front crash bar, too, so the crash bar can be prepped ready for POR15'ing before replacement.

Need to gather up some bits for blasting . . . .

Gator

thats not as low as i was expecting or is there stuff underneath to shave speed humps

Me neither - but there is some weight to go back on/in so the final height will be a tad lower.

In the voice of the Churchill Dog : "Arwww, Yes !!"

Manufacturer: General Motors
12337828 - Flywheel Cover Bolt

Hmmm . . . . That'd explain why neither 1/4" UNC, UNF or M6 would fit.

****************

Have also fired off an email to Spohn's Tech department regarding the Pinto Rack Kit they do . . . . . see if it can be fitted in-situ or if bits need removing . . .

might be worth trawling a breakers - those are very similar looking to the screws used to secure the bottoms of dashboards in most modern cars.

or do GM still list them?

F Body

Or only $0.43 for a pack of ten
