Regarding the "choice" of bezel finishes . . . . . . . Believe me - there were no choices !!

Things you learn along the way, that . . . . no big deal - just minor details I'd change if I did it all again . . . . .

. . . which I'm NOT !!

You see, that's your problem. You have no commitment to getting the project done properly

The Caddy's coming up next . . . . . The Camaro's just a "practise run".

Nice, that's what I like to hear. I couldn't imagine doing two full projects, the bus is hard enough! Although I wouldn't mind another 'easy' project to do whilst the bus is a long gameplan to finish - you know like an F150 that needs a bit of fettling to get the engine running okay, or the interior tidied..

I hope you keep a folder of all your projects RK. Must be some impressive stuff to tick off in there already. Recent ones I can think of are the garage and bike!

The wedding will be next - poor Sammy, she'll have her dress redone a dozen times before he's happy

Roadkill

Nah, I'll be keeping as much out of the wedding as possible . . . Got too much on my plate already to worry about such trivial matters . . .

Sammy away for a few days then is she?

No, she tells me she doesn't look on the forum much so I reckon I'm safe - especially in this thread.

Not much to report over the weekend.

Work was next to nothing done - which was a shame as the weather was so good on saturday.

One major job I did start was the exhaust.  Kinda.

I'll post up some pictures of the bits later but I hit a immediate snag when assembly began.

Thus began hours of measuring and pondering . . . . I know think I've sussed a way round the issue(s), albeit in a rather unconventional manner.

It should work, though . . . .

I've spoken to a local fabricating company and will be taking some bits down there tomorrow along with some sketches.

Fingers crossed.

On a plus side the rest of the system sits exactly where I planned it to . . . the issues(s) are with the first area where the ground clearance is next-to-none.

A pic of that clamp for Jamie :

Not what I was expecting, but definitely a step up from standard u-clamps.

What he said . . . . There is just no need to complicate things further by putting duals over the axle . . . Despite the fact that I have the proper upper panhard to do it - it's still unbelieveably limited under there.

Roadkill

On a sidenote the issues I encountered last weekend should be resolved soon . . . I'm having part of the system welded up with a notch added in the cross-over for additional ground/gearbox clearance and the other issue I think I've sorted, too . . . .

I'll know for sure this weekend, though . . .

Plus the *correct* place for V8 exit pipes IS out the side. Fact.

With side winders are an optional extra for that uber look, only lose their cool when you burn the back of you leg stepping out.

Couple of questions:

1. are those clamps stainless? If so where did you get them from?  I had to use a couple of U-clamps and would like to change them sometime.

2. where are you getting the welding done?  I'd like to get the collector extension welded to the main tubes.

Yes.  Or they bloody well should be !!

I *may* have a few over - but it'll depend on how it goes this weekend . . .

They're not an exhaust specialist or anything - but they're local to me and seem like a good bunch of blokes.

I'll let you know the quality of work when I pick my bits up.

They're £6.11 each, new, I'll have six left over - let me know how many you want and I'll sort a price out for ya.

Probably about £4 each - sound O.K to you ? - can post if needed.

UPDATE :

Uber Thanks to Ryan for some Under-dash-reassembling and for assistance with the exhaust.

The exhaust is now well under way - I have some pics - the cross-over is assembled and fitted under the car (and is now the lowest part of the vehicle ).

The "side pipes" are also partly assembled but, due to the fact that I've slightly altered the design, I need one small additional part.

This meant that it couldn't be fully assembled but it won't take long once I have that final part (am ordering that today so should have it easily for the weekend).

Pics to follow . . . . .

Some pics.

The assembled "H" pipe . . . bit of a Frankenstein's monster, this, but should work . . . took hours of effort to get it together :

Close-up of the "Frankensteining" :

Under the car (note that it won't be quite this low when finished) :

D/S Side Pipe mocked up on blocks . . . the 180* bends (hidden) had to be trimmed to suit :

Now all I need is the Wiring Fairy to pay me a visit . . or three . . .
