Everything's doable!

Just got to see when I'm gonna have time to get it done. Will do my best though.

Andy

How critical is the slot and flat alignment at each end?

Roadkill

Fairly, but not super critical . . . . There's a bit of play allowed for.

On a side note I just purchased this :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390499117132?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390499117132?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

. . to replace the smashed one I have . . . . I'm quite happy to say that I'm now running out of things that need to be bought !!!

Andy

Ok, turned and machined this in my lunch hour (plus a bit)

Stock 303 20 x 295

Only free lathe was the really really shagged Colchester Master, sorry to say but there is a bit of a taper on the 12mm as time was tight I think I got it with .1mm

I then drilled the holes in one bash to get your critical length, then squared up using the holes in a fixture to machine the slot and flat. Here's where I came a bit unstuck, I don't have a slotting blade for my mandrel that will cut 25mm deep. I've gone to about 17mm, I hope this doesn't cause you too many issues, should be enough of a guide there for a grinder.

Slot end:

Flat end:

Overall:

Ally bits still to be turned (need to find the material really)

Roadkill

As the Fonz would say : "Eeeeeeeeeeeyyy"

No worries about the slot - I can work with that . . .

If you're stuck with material, the spacers can be stainless, also . . .

PM me your address and I'll get the struts out.

Andy

Just polished it up a bit after jizzering it, excuse the finish on the flat, sure it won't matter but it ain't my best

Cheers CP, I like to think I'm good at something apart from posting rubbish on forums!

Update - to keep things . . err . . . updated . . .

Centre Console Panel - Painted and ready for fitting . . . Second picture shows how it will look with the Hurst Boot fixed in place.

Hole in floor . . . now with more rivets !

Dash wiring tidied up a bit . . . (fusebox re-fixed, dead cabled tidied, any loose cables secured, handbrake switch cable re-routed).
Possibly the worlds clearest Third-Gen behind-dashboard view.
(This is it finished - nothing more to go back)

Finally, All minor and major holes in the floor addressed.  Floor pan swept and hoovered and tape put over any protrusions or potential sharp edges.

Ready for carpet (which is now laid-out in the conservatory de-creasing).

EDIT -

Thanks this time to my patient, darling Wifey Sammy - who tolerated me working on the Camaro almost all weekend despite her having it off work and looking after Jensen !

Cheers, Hun.

How are you so productive latley? Items for sale, project updates all over the forum

Has someone discovered crack?

Nice tidy wiring. I hope to get the bus wiring as tidy as that!

Started putting time in in the evenings and hit it hard over the weekend . . . hope to maintain it up until the new year.  Booked a days holiday next Friday which should coincide with finishing the interior and seals to re-install the doors that weekend . . .

In fairness, much of what you see in that picture is how Titsy left it . . . I only mounted the odd box and drilled the occasional hole . . the tidying I did was down the other end of that pic.

The real test will be when I do the Caddy as I'll mainly be responsible for the wiring on that.

Are you redesigning the loom or just remaking the stock one?

Roadkill

Mainly remaking the old . . . . with additions for air ride and door poppers . . . and necessary mods for installing the Big Block.

Cunning Plan

Awesome

Edit:

I won't take up space on your thread, I'll post on my project blog.

Should be getting the two bit turned up at lunch, found a lump of material to use.

You'll have to PM which address you'd like it sent to.

Andy

Right, spacers turned, package packed, now sat on dispatch bench awaiting an address...

I call this an over use of the tape known as Duct.

Roadkill

Cool, cheers, mate.

The carpet's all ready to go in so this weekend's looking good - hopefully they arrive on time.

Address sent via PM.

Andy

Actually, I'm being a bit thick here, my mates playing ice hockey this Friday at MK so I could bring them over then? Save postage at least. Only problem being his game doesn't start til 11:30pm, will be in the area around 10pm though.

Roadkill

Yeah, suits me.  Wanna get here earlier and I'll buy you a beer at the local ?

Andy

Appreciate the offer but ill be tight on time I reckon. Plus I'm a tee-total

Kills a couple of birds with one stone though so all good!

Roadkill

Fair enough - cuppa tea, then ?

See you Friday then, I'll be about all evening after 8pm, no problem.

Andy

Good stuff ill see if I can make it over early if not looking at around 10ish.

F Body

Coming along nicely

Oh and the 2,000th post on this topic

Roadkill

FYI, There'll be some updates later . . . . some bad, some good.
