Got the call from Webster Racing yesterday - My Axle is now fully LSD'ed up and shot-blasted ready for paint.

I'll pick it up this week.

Ah so it was yours.

I got a call from WRE yesterday telling me my axle was done and ready for pick up.   It confused the hell of them when I told them they'd already done mine and it was done still attached to the car!

Roadkill

He sounded kinda confused when he called me . . . Kinda : "Err . . . Mr Witham ?? . . . We have an axle ready for collection ??? . . . "

When I said "yep that's right" he sounded genuinely relieved - Wonder how many people he'd called . . ?

Roadkill

The gearbox is now ready for collection too . . . . £625 +vat.

Still

Roadkill

POR15 should be being posted monday.

Looks like I'll have to busy myself doing something else this w/e.

EVERYTHING has been uprated/rebuilt/replaced/reconned except (currently) the engine.

Once set up she should be the best handling third gen in the country !

Theoretically, of course.

On a related note : I'm having parts made for a Engine Removal Gantry

you my friend need a forklift

Roadkill

Eeek !

I hold a lifting and slinging cert. - That's naughty.

Although a true at heart () - given the choice I would always opt for the properly engineered option.

(especially as it'll be *free*)

Yep worked a treat though. the ability to tilt / slide the engine whilst lifting was ideal.

I also weld by brail , use pillar drills without safety stops , climb on conveyor sytems 20 mtrs in the air. all naughty but gets the job done

I hear you.
I'm a project manager by profession so believe me, I well know you've got to turn the other way on site sometimes in order to get things done, now.

Health and saftey gone mad.

I blame Martyn.

CJ-IROCZ

Dont get me wrong i'm not wreckless and i'm aware that i do sometimes take calculated risks.

My job entails installing conveyor systems / belts in quarrys and processing plants , which have some of the hottest health and safety polices in all industrys,. Permits are needed for all aspects of the job . working without guards, hot work , none isolated work ect and to be fair i wouldn't do alot of the work without one. I am a little naugty at times though I've got a bad habit of not using harnesses as often as i should

Harness rules are daft, though . . . Wearing a harness at 1.2m won't help you when the lanyard is 1.6m but still they insist on wearing one.

Roadkill

Picked up the axle from WRE.

All shot-blasted and ready for fresh paint.

Hey I'm just trying to keep you alive !

Work pays the bills but it ain't worth dying for or even going to the Hospital for

Harness ? Agreed 1.2 m is bollocks, but fall from 2.5m and your'll hit the floor at 17.5 mph, try running at a concrete wall and see if you can reach 17.5mph and if it hurts

As humans we are really poor at asking the question " What if ? "
All we see are the advantages, getting the job done and doing what our employer wants !

So ask yourself the question next time " What if I fall - What if the chain breaks ? What if the equipment starts ?

Like I said " It's only a job ! "

CJ-IROCZ

Yep your right. My job certainly aint worth dying for

I'm only joking, Mate.

It does get silly at times, though . . .

sixpack2639

I've had some good jobs before, but not one I was will to die for.

HardRockCamaro

Pah, it only goes wrong if you ain't thought it through (and that's just evolution in action)...

This is the way to get the job done:

Bloody ell!! Those fekkers must have a death wish!

Picked up the axle from WRE - £285.

Picked up the Gearbox from Transmission Comp yesterday - £785.

Problem is they decided it would look better if they sprayed it . . . .

Let's just say that their gearbox rebuilding had better be superior to their painting skills.

most if it had flaked off on the journey home in the back seat.

I want it blasted and I'll either respray it PROPERLY or just leave it as cast.

I realise I'm getting a little anal over this now . . . . .

Dammit - to much time around Martyn . . and PhilO . . and Chris . . . and . . .
