The Kit comes with the wiring for a master switch then a micro switch to fire the solenoids at WOT - it is actually a fairly comprehensive kit to get the NOS in and working (less purge / blow down etc)

I was thinking more along the lines of controlling the timing when the kit is armed and maintaining constant fuel pressure; say the engine produces 350bhp at WOT plus 150 nitrous, you'd need a constant 6psi of fuel; you'll want a fuel pump that flows a minimum of 50gph and double that to be on the safe side.

I know its only a small kit but I would definitely flow test it first.

Roadkill

I'm running a Holley blue so the flow should be fine.  The regulator is currently set at about 5.5 if I recall.

The plan is to only use a 100-shot.

I think I'll need to add an extra pair of bolts in the mains before I venture passed that.

Timing will be The problem as I'm only running a dizzy but no ignition box.

Cunning Plan

Mini-Update.

Spent about an hour or so yesterday sketching up brackets for the steering column . . . am in the process of drawing them now for production.

Hopefully, If I'm lucky I can get them ready for this weekend but, that said, my new steering wheel STILL hasn't shipped yet.  Not happy with Summit about that.

Also fired her up with the exhaust box-thingy fitted.

Sounds good.

Deceptively quiet from behind, loud-ish from the front and loud (but not terrible - IMO) from the sides.

Roadkill

Big upz to Ian for popping over last night and assisting in getting the one dimension I missed on Tuesday.

Roadkill

Works continues . . .

NOS is now 90% plumbed and wired.  Just waiting for a new -6AN bottle cap, blow-down tube and purge kit (should be here this coming week) to "complete".

Raised the Fuel pressure to 6psi.  New fuel line fitted with inline gauge - one of my better ideas I reckon.

One of the last remaining jobs was the door cards . . . First I had to be able to actually shut the doors from sitting inside the car . . . .

The door :

The plate with a crush-nut tacked on :

One of those Chavvy "tow straps" being used for something cool :

It'll all come together when the door cards are fitted . . . . but I hit a snag with that . . . the plastic rivets I got were too short.

Ian had a idea of how to use them differently to get round it but they need longer screws (now on order).

Attacked the steering (again).

Got one bracket ready for welding on Tuesday . . . will test fit that one and then prepare the next bracket . . . . Hopefully thet'll be both welded, painted and ready to go on this next weekend.

In other news Summit STILL haven't dispatched my new steering wheel.

Not happy.

Will be writing a email to them later.

Finally a (really crap) video taken yesterday while we were testing the fuel pressure . . . . She was idling exactly where I want her to be ~500RPM.

You aren't kidding 7 mins

Sounds like some sort of awesome tank

Titsy

Where does that nitrous line disappear as it looks like it heads down towards the headers. As cool a route as possible is advisable otherwise you'll end up with gas in the lines not liquid. Earl's at Silverstone should be a one stop shop for any adapters or elbows you need.

It goes from the solenoid, over the valve cover, then attach's to the chasis and follows the line of the fuel pipe down and under the car, as far as feasibly possible from the heat!

Roadkill

As Ian says, apart from running the line in the car it couldn't be further away.

There's places where it's closer than I'd like to the headers and exhaust but generally it's a good distance.  The purge kit will get rid of vapour after standing, also.

Roadkill

The Nitrous stuff I ordered from Summit arrived in one week (just 5 working days !!)

Epic !

Was surprised at the length of the blow-down tube . . . It looked short in the pics and I was concerned that it wouldn't reach where I needed it to go - shouldn't be an issue, though.

Purge kit looks simple, too, I think Ian's already run the wiring for that.

Pity the steering wheel is on back order - Mental note: Write email to Summit.

Got the first of the steering brackets welded up earlier - looks good . . . needs some paint but I'll wait until it's test-fitted first.

That p!sses all over the crappy video I took - I'll be needing a copy of that.

It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Roadkill

Fitted the -6AN bottle nut to finish the NOS plumbing inside the car last night.  Also fitted the blow-off cap and offered up the tube . . will probably drill the hole in the floor pan for that tonight and get that done, too.

Am considering sourcing some longer 1/8" x 22swg copper tube for the purge kit as I don't think the 12" length NOS supply with it will be enough to get it where I want it.

Need to offer it up, really.

Also, as I had time, primered and painted the first steering bracket - ready for fitting.

Andy

Nos really confuses me.

So you have the solenoid wired in so that it only opens at WOT, but do you also have to have extra fuel on tap as well? If so, is there a separate solenoid for this with another fuel line?

Titsy lent me a book but I haven't touched it yet . . . I'm learning the basics as I go.

Yes, my kit has a micro switch (visible in one of the pics above) that activates the solenoids.
Particularly useful for a car with manual transmission, IMO.

Yes.  One solenoid for NOS, one for extra fuel.

Quoting: Andy

Yes.  In one of the pics above you can make out the second fuel line (there's a gauge for each fuel line).

My fuel pump can deliver enough for both lines so I have two lines coming from my regulator.

Belt and braces would be to run two pumps in case one fails but that's another chunk of cash at the moment . . . .

Not really - you now know as much as me !!!

Andy

Ah, well thats not too bad then

We were talking about NOS on saturday at the Pod, one guy there was telling me last season his WOT switch either got stuck or the solenoid malfunctioned, I don't know the full ins and outs of how, but the result was the bottle not shutting off without him knowing, ended up emptying its contents into the inlet manifold.

cool - least that stuff turned up PDQ!!

Purge kit should be easy as the wire is already there, just needs finishing.

Cool, least the main nitrous line is finished then

sounds nice and easy for the blow down then!

hmm, 12" may be enough but as you say, offer up and see jobby!

The whole system should have an "arming" switch.

I'm sure people do things differently but I'd be one who'd disarm the system and close the bottle valve immediately after the run.

Even if you've got an electrical failure, ultimately the valve will stop anything !

Roadkill

Scuppered by the steering AGAIN !

It's certainly teaching me a few things.

Minor progress but not enough to be able to get it done this weekend . . .

How did you get on with that Puller Kit?
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Roadkill

Yeah, great.  Ian took the steering wheel off with no issues while I was doing something else.

Looks like I'll need to remove the entire steering column in order to sort my steering issues out . . .

Roadkill

Holy $hit - 260 bucks for a bottle heater !
