Roadkill

That's what was so weird.  I was quite amused by it.

I'm a little sick, though, I suppose.

Roadkill

Me and Ian had another go at the timing this evening . . .

Got the baseline to about 13-14*, With Full Mech @ 35* . . . Didn't Check with Vac.

That's roughly where "they" reckon it should be so --

It got dark very quick so didn't get a chance to run her up and down the rev band too much.  She seemed happy and I backed the idle back down to about 525 RPM.

I also leaned the mix a little as she's been looking a little rich.

We also had a better look at the bonnet after its stint in the air . . . there's more damage than first thought so it'll need more than just a quick cosmetic repair.

If I'm honest my head isn't in it at the moment, I'm not in that place so I don't intend to do any more than I absolutely need to . . . I'll concentrate on getting her out of the weather then wait til next year.

Roadkill

She's MoT'ed, now, BTW . . .

Easy pass with no advisories . . . They didn't even need to adjust the headlights !!!

I adjusted the tracking last night, too . . that's pretty darn close, now.

She's now sleeping in a cosy garage for the winter months.

She's technically NOT finished, of course, but I've had enough for this year . . . .

She's still bogging quite a bit at higher revs and once she was hot did pop a few times on the way to the station and back . . . I've also got the bonnet to re-do, too . . .

She's 99% there though so I'm as happy as I can be . . .

Yeah.  I know.  I was just sitting there and thought "F*ck it" (I think that a lot, lately) and booked it in . . . an hour later she was being MoT'ed.

It was really good.

All the guys stopped and had a good look round it.  When asked how much in total it'd set me back they were utterly stunned when I told them "around £10K" - most were thinking double that.

Another nice thing was that they said it was "as good - if not better" than Tony's work (from Wheels in Motion - knock them if you like but they have some serious high-end stuff go through their shop).

The interior was described as "f*cking sexy" and the overall stance as "porn".

I can't say that all the comments made it all worthwhile (I'd be lying) but it did spur me on to do an even better job of the Cadillac.

EDIT - The guy nearly fell over when I told him I'd sprayed it, too . . . especially when I said it hadn't been post-paint sanded.

I just need a bigger space . . . .

You need to open your own business.

I should've said "colour sanding".  It's the (wet) sanding you do after painting to remove orange-peel, runs and imperfections.

I wasn't too sure how a satin finish would respond to this type of sanding so didn't do it.

Can't you test it out on the bonnet, as it needs re-doing?

I can, yes, and will do when the warmer weather comes back around.

Andy

MOT'd you say? For a year you say? Well that would mean it would be perfectly fine to take part in the Powertour next year!

Sounds good then if they thought it that good

I was waiting for you to say that !!

Yes and no.  She's running like $hit at the moment - sounds great but at higher revs she ain't great.  That on it's own isn't good but the "popping" can be potentially damaging so until I can be sure nothing's gonna go bang I'm not committing to anything.

They didn't, not really, I just talked it in.

Don't get to excited.... You're going to be wanting a wide band sensor setup as a narrow band it only really useful for an engine management system that's aiming at stoich. I'll take a butchers at lunch and post some options.

Roadkill

I've found some gauges that come with sensors but only single-sensor set-ups.

All the twin-sensor set-ups I've heard mentioned refer to pre and post-cat set-ups.

Is it an option to run 2 separate set-ups (ie 2 sensors, 2 gauges), effectively monitoring each head separately ??  Almost certainly most expensive but ---- ?

Titsy

What autometer gauge series have you got fitted already?

sensors are included in each, the more expensive ones have peak hold and alarm settings. Ideal for tuning and a nitrous setup.

not quite as cheap as you would have hoped i'm sure
