Alas, the burnt valves won't be so good, though.

Ralph

No squeezing as much exhaust in there as possible would be a good idea

Sh!t !

Was just flicking through my PB library and came across this one from the Spring Nats in '05.

Pre-LSD, of course . . . . .

Nearly 9 years ago . . . Yeah, yeah.  It makes me feel old.

Good times . . . . In fact, just before it all went to the crapper, with regards to us and the AACI.

Hopefully similar scenes in the Camaro this year . . . . .

Roadkill

Insured for another year . . . . MoT'ed until end of October . . .

It's crying out for 6 months tax, really.

Andy

If you taxed that today, you could run it at the pod this weekend, then drive it to the South Bucks meet in two weeks time AND THEN to Jacks Hill Cafe meet the Friday following!

Cunning Plan

1968 VW T2 Bay Bus (currently being restored and upgraded)
1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ (modern classic daily driver)

Not from Ibiza I couldn't

Besides, due to work commitments I've not been getting home til around 8pm most nights recently . . . I just can't be arsed to go anywhere after that.

Weekends aren't safe at the moment, either.

EDIT - As it happens, I HAVE taxed it.

I plan to run it (potentially) for 6 months (may, June, July, Aug, Sept & Oct), which should fall in nicely with when the MoT's due (end of Oct).

Andy

Well I'll be at Jacks Hill Cafe for the May meet, weather permitting as I'm meeting Colin Theobald there to do a bunch of photos and get some info about his car for a feature.

Two birds, one stone? Could include it in the feature :)

What date's that ?

Friday 9th May

Then the following Tuesday will be the South Bucks meet, got those two the wrong way round.

I'm still on holiday, then (get back on Saturday).

Further to a conversation on FB, I've realised that I really need to pull my finger out and get the Camaro done.

In my defense . . . ah, well, let's not bother . . . I've just got horny for doing the Caddy and let myself get carried away.

I'll be seeing Stromberg regarding the Caddy's intake on Friday but will tell them to hold fire for a bit to let me get some cash together (depending on how long they think it'll take) so I can spend some money on the Camaro.

Based on previous conversations on here, Titsy recommended 2 "Innovate" controllers to read the A/F mix (one for each bank).

I found these in the U.K, here :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300977237961?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300977237961?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I'll need two suitable gauges (again, one for each bank) and I decided I preferred these two from Titsy's recommendations :

http://www.speedhut.com/gauge/GR-AFWB-01/1/Air-Fuel-Gauge-Wide-Band-10-18-(w--warning)-(FOR-INNOVATE)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.speedhut.com/gauge/GR-AFWB-01/1/Air-Fuel-Gauge-Wide-Band-10-18-(w--warning)-(FOR-INNOVATE)

I'll need an A-pillar pod to mount the gauges (no room on the dash) and Speedhut sell these, too (saves shipping) :

http://www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/product/548/Chevrolet-Camaro-1982-1992-Hard-Top-Triple-Full-Pillar-(LHD)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/product/548/Chevrolet-Camaro-1982-1992-Hard-Top-Triple-Full-Pillar-(LHD)

Note that the cluster is a triple-pod for three gauges . . . Well, It makes sense to fit a Vacuum gauge to aid set-up and makes even more sense to go for a Vacuum AND boost gauge to cover all eventualities . . . !  :

http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/atm-2601/overview/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/atm-2601/overview/

That should cover everything . . . . except the mods to the exhaust system itself, of course . . . but that should be pretty cheap.

Titsy

Is there not another gauge from speedhut you could use for vac/boost to keep a uniform look? Am I right in thinking you have mechanical gauges for nitrous and fuel pressure under the cowl?

They do a vacuum only / boost only IIRC . . . plus it's an electrical feed which I think is unnecessary and works out twice the price . . .

Yes / no . . . I have a mechanical pressure gauge for NOS on the bottle, plus 2 fuel pressure gauges (one for the fuel line and one for the NOS fuel line) . . . I figure it'd highlight fluctuations and be a back-up if one failed.

Funnily enough I've put 2 electrical-fed gauges on my wish list at Summit today to replace them but they're over $200 EACH so will be a luxury item later on . . . Must admit, I'd prefer the gauges visible in the car . . .

Roadkill

O.K - Taking full advantage of what will probably be my last massively-high-mileage month (aka mega expenses) - I've now ordered :

. . . .

I still intend to buy the vacuum / boost gauge, too, but need to let the dust settle, first.  Especially with the Engine crane / load leveler purchase yesterday !!!

Roadkill

The Speedhut gauges are made to order and I had a notification earlier from DHL telling me that they've now been shipped (along with the triple pod).

The Innovate controllers have already arrived so the next piece of the puzzle is the vacuum/boost gauge from Summit . . . .

I'd previously fitted two mechanical fuel pressure gauges under the hood, inline . . one on the fuel line and one on the dedicated NOS fuel line . . . of course, the theory is that these should always be the same but I fitted one on each to check for fluctuations (which there are) . . .

This set-up is great, but I could really do with seeing what's going on in the car . . . So I've found a kit that reads the pressure using a electronic sensor to a gauge (so it's safe to mount inside the car) . . . .

My thinking is that I'll keep the inline mechanical one on the regular fuel line for setting and adjusting the regulator and replace the other on the NOS fuel line so I can see that inside the car . . . the reading from that will tell me any obvious issues (ie. fuel pressure or no fuel pressure) but when NOS is being used will be imperative in insuring I don't cook the motor.

The downside is that this new fuel pressure set-up will cost another $270 (+shipping) and it obviously makes sense to order it with the other bits from Summit.

Money's tight this month so it'll have to wait until payday unless I can sell some $hit on eBay . . . .

Roadkill

Less than a pages' worth of posts in 6 months . . pretty poor.

C.P's right, I'm slacking !!

Anyway, to keep him happy some updates on the Camaro front . . .

2 x Innovate A/F Controllers have arrived . . .

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/IMAG0606_zps5952fa50.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

Speedhut has also graced me with two of their A/F gauges and a triple-pillar-pod . . . oddly enough though the 2 1/16" gauges struggle to fit in their 2 1/16" pods once you start securing them in . . . So looks like I'll be doing a little modifying, there . . .

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/IMAG0676_zps6939c87b.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

Next on the list will be the Vacuum / Boost gauge (to fit in the pillar pod), Electronic fuel pressure sensor and gauge kit plus Dash-mount pod (I'll just screw it on to the top of the dash) - All that front Summit.

I'll order that on Monday, once I've moved some money about . . . . Then it's some more exhaust bits . . .

Cunning Plan

Mmmm new stuff mmmm.

I really need to think about ordering and shipping my gauges from Summit.

Now ordered.

Once it arrives I'll bring the Camaro back to Castle Roadkill and start fitting it all.

I'll also measure up for the next generation in the exhaust system, too . . . the exhaust parts are all U.K-based so I'm hoping I'll be able to turn that part around pretty quick . . . .

I've just picked up a Hedman Hedders set of headers and y-pipe if you would like to have a look / use for measurements?

Roadkill

Thanks but they'd be no good to me . . . the LT1 has different sized (and shaped) exhaust ports so you're limited on what headers you can have with a LT1-in-a-third-gen combo.

I want to keep with the Long-tubes but am going to play with header extensions without a cross-over.

It's only money !

Andy

Ah yeah, forgot about that.

Well anyway, they're sat in a box at the moment, so if they're any use at all feel free to give me a shout.

I've got a few things lining up at the moment and I'm undecided which way to take things... i'll update my thread now.

Ralph

Really looking forward to seeing this one day! Keep at it chap as it's going to be one mean motor once you are done! (Is anyone ever really done with a project?)

Got to push to get it rumbling round at least once this year ;)

More shiny things arrived over the weekend . . . I must admit I'm struggling to find time to do anything this year.

Childcare has become an issue, meaning I typically have to look after the little'un all weekend almost every weekend . . . when he was younger you could plonk him down and he'd watch his DVD's so I could get on . . now he just wants to be outside "helping" - which is great, but his "help" typically triples the time a job would take (or makes it simply impossible to do safely).

With a bit of luck things should be more settled by September or October but that ain't gonna help getting the Camaro finished or the Caddy started . . .

Hey-ho . . here's the shiny things . . .

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/IMAG0757_zpsb964e861.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

That's now all the stuff I need from the states for the Camaro . . . The rest I should be able to buy here or make.

I'm hoping to bring the Camaro back home in the next couple of weeks and get these bits fitted . . .
