Ok have a price from dwain, the best he can do on that motor is $2k as it costs him $1800. I gave him the jegs price and he said he cant compete with that seeing as its $400 less than his cost price

55starchief

Ok well here is what its gonna cost you to ship a motor from the US and this is not including delivery to brackley or where ever you want it

Charges to LHR as follows :

Air freight         all USD            1.86 per kilo
Local Pick up                         0.20 per kilo
EGL Handling haz frt              50.00
AES Fee                               20.00
Airport transfer                       0.05 per kilo
Airline fuel surcharge              0.70 per kilo
Airline security charge            0.15 per kilo
Disbursement fee                   19.76

The motor weighs 181kgs by the way, also mikes motor is only a 2 bolt main block

Air freight all USD 1.86 per kilo

$336.66

Local Pick up 0.20 per kilo

$36.20

Plus $70 other fees.

Quoting: 55starchief
Airport transfer 0.05 per kilo

$9.05

Airline fuel surcharge 0.70 per kilo

$126.70

Quoting: 55starchief
Airline security charge 0.15 per kilo

$27.15

Plus $109.76 further fees =

$715.52 = £344 . . . . . .

Roadkill

Engine is $1479 = £711

So £1055 not including tax, duty or shipping to M.K . . . .

55starchief

Im just checking that all of those fees are in USD mate, am also questioning why there is a HAZMAT fee on a dry motor

55starchief

Ok no hazmat charges so thats gonna make a small saving

Roadkill

Quoting: Roadkill
£1055

Minus $90 (£43) = £1012

What's the vat and duty gunna be ? - 17.5% and 10% respectively ?

Ok VAT will be 17.5% but i cant seem to find anything that says there will be duty to pay on the motor so you might get lucky here. Also remember if the motor is not brand new and sealed you will have to pay the HAZMAT charge

Roadkill

So £1012 with vat ? = £1189 . . . .

If duty as well = £1308 . . . . . . .

All I'd need to do is have a piece of paper saying I worked for an automotive comapny and apparently I could set up a trade account with JWR with major savings . . . .

Alas, my company parted F1 over a year ago, now . . .

Can you get me the full details in writing on what's required here please...

It's not likely if the purchasing has the go through the company books, but get me the info and we'll see...

Be careful Dude, if you have a "sleeping" company which provides you with these sort of benefits etc, you still have to do the tax returns and pay VAT on any purchases

Guv'nor was around all day . . I get limited time in the drawing office and my desk is opposite his . . .

55starchief

Ahem if you want me to get a better price i need the part number

Roadkill

oNLY ONE PHONE IN THIS OFFICE AND IT'S ON THE GUV'NORS DESK ! - iT'LL HAVE TO WAIT . . .

Damn CAPS LOCK.

55starchief

Well looks like the LT1 has a CR of 10.5:1 which isnt ideal for turbo's although a little reading on the web says 7 pound of boost is the safe limit on a stock LT1. That would still give you about 400hp

Roadkill

55starchief

The turbo would be more gentle on the motor and as your not boosting the motor all the time i cant see any reason for damage providing you keep the boost under control

Roadkill

Yeah, that'll have to be at a later date, now, though.

I'll be happy with the extra power from the LT1.

Speaking of which . . . How does the Dizzy pick up on the motor ?

Does the Cam have the appropriate gear or am I after a Camshaft as well ?
