UPDATE

Didn't get alot of time over the weekend but did do a little bit yesterday.

The nose cone and front crash bar has now been removed (again).

The front wheels are off and the car supported on axles stands on the front rails (chocked at the rear).

I started removing bits from the engine bay ready for POR15ing (which arrived this morning, btw).

I removed the earth straps and water containers (over-flow and washer tanks).

The tanks are about 2 years old so will be going back on, however they were a little grubby so while it was raining I popped into the garage and gave them a quick clean.  As good as new, now . . . I was surprised to see that the brown stains in the overflow tank actually come off with hot water.

That's about it.

It looks proper pikey at the moment.

Roadkill

Well, days play has ended early due to the weather.

If I'd have known it was about to p!ss it down I would've skipped lunch and had another hour out there.

F*cking weather.

No chance of getting anything done today.

I got halfway through dropping a shock/A-arm yesterday . . . It's not a good place to leave it.

(Kind of an) UPDATE :

Tuesday night I measured up for some blanking plates for the firewall in the engine bay to plug the many holes there left by the departure of the Air Con / Heater / pipes etc . . .

Wednesday I cut them and cleaned them at work.

Last night I primered them both sides ready for fitting / final coat of POR15.  (They'll be Pop-riveted in place as I haven't got time to mess about welding and obviously none of it is structural).

This morning the new steering box arrived - With NO TAX or DUTY CHARGES !

Result ! - The box was damaged but the part looks fine with a brief inspection.

A little concerned over the bearings . . . I ordered these first and they're not here yet . . .

55starchief

If your going to rivet them in place put them on the inside and skim over with some filler for a smooth firewall finish

Roadkill

If it was a show car I would.  But it's not.  So I'm not gonna bother.

At the end of the day the firewall isn't flat anyway so there's not much point.

55starchief

If you want i can grab the air riviter from the body shop and should be able to get across sunday with the little compressor to pu those plates on super tight

Roadkill

I mainly need a angle drill, to be honest . . . .
