Wow.  Haven't updated this in weeks !

Well, US trip aside, things have progressed - the block is now cleaned, de-burred (yes, that's right) and sprayed dark blue.

I started cleaning the heads last night, one done, before I ran out of gunk.

Pictures have been taken but my PC is toast.

Also, apparently, PhilO is blanking off the Optispark and water pump holes in my timing cover . . . . . apparently I was supposed to get the cover back on Tuesday . . . Philo ?

That's it for now.

Next thing what needs to happen before the motor goes back together is I need to decide if I'm upgrading the rockers or not . . .

I need to get on !

going to be a corker when its all done.

wish i had half of the time, space, wedge and inclination that you have

Roadkill

Both cylinder heads now stripped, scrubbed, cleaned and degreased.

Valves removed and guides checked.  All appears O.K.

Will be ordering new springs, retainer and locks - with new rockers later.

Pics to follow !!!

Firstly the block :

I said I deburred the block . . . I meant it !

Before :

After :

Pre-paint (note the shiny parts are the deburred areas) :

In Paint . . . Ironically in "Ford Dark Blue" :

Next . . . the pile of parts I "smuggled" back from the States . . (note iPod shuffle in amongst the car parts).

A head being cleaned . . . :

A very dirty sink . . .

The engine and heads right now . . heads stripped of valves - awaiting new parts . . . :

Yup.

Sweet, i would consider painting the valve covers though for contrast, or powdercoat

I've got something very, very special lined up with regards to the valve covers . . .

No, but the words "one off" and "custom fabrication" are involved.

Funds are low after splashing out on the springs and rockers, though, so I may have to pass on them . . .

An incomplete list of parts still required to complete the drive-train . . . :

Valve Covers.
Starter motor.
Carb.
Propshaft . . . .

I think that's basically it . . . Valve covers and Starter are the priority . . .

EDIT :

Starter - GM Performance :

Yup, I need the extra clearance for headers . . . I had one on the 305ci with no problems.
