Now i'm guessing you're going to want to remove this anyway as you have no control over it. But this was a safegaurd from lunching the box as there is no reverse syncro... it stopped you sellecting reverse above so many revs or if you were moving...

Ahh, O.K, so it was PhilO who was right, then.

See the diagram for the locations of the solenoids...

O.K - we knew the reverse switch and speedo sensor.

Mine doesn't have the skip-shift solenoid fitted.

That's the actual unit I've already got  - or the connector for it ?

Quoting: Titsy
each one comes with 12" of wire, So I'll have to splice them...

Noted.

Quoting: Titsy
Some other guys have wired the reverse lockout to a switch on hurtst T-Handles.... not sure of the benefits myself...

No, me, neither.

It's a six-speed . . . you'd have to be pretty daft to drop it into reverse from 5th or 6th.

If it was a five-speed with reverse located below 5th then I'd be more concerned.

The shift pattern is:

1 3 5 R

2 4 6

So it is possible you could go for 5th and get reverse...

If you did it would make a mess of the box and then very shortly after the car...

If it was me i would have the lockout on a button so you have to press to engage reverse, but thats only me

Long shot, but true.

I'm guessing it's possible which is the reason for it having the lock-out... Might be a tad easier to do with the short shifter too...

Without syncro you'd only do it once

Me thinks it has to be done

For the sake of adding a small switch to the shifter-stick I'd agree.

I was only discussing with Titsy the many additions / modifications I want / need to make to the 'Maro's loom.

They'll be a lot of extra switches going in there - I want manual control over almost everything !

Picture link dumped ( It was a picture of KITT showing all the hundreds of dashboard switches )

You should have gone with one of these:

Nope.

I hate buttons on the shifter knob.

As reverse is used less than 1% of the time why should it occupy a place where my thumb will spend 50% (or more) of its time ?

Basically there's no point having a manual control if I'm gonna have my thumb resting on the button is there ?

I was thinking about 3" down the stick, on the front face, so it could be engaged with my "F*ck you" finger (that comes perfectly in line with the shifter stick).

That way it's out of the way but can still be easily switched on / off.

Scrubbed, degreased, primered and painted the power steering pump, belt tensioner and pulley last night.

All turned out good.

Will refit all said parts tonight.

Yeah, yeah - pictures to follow.

Yeah... It'll look real prety, but don't expect it to run once the internals have been taken to with an angle grinder...

I'm hoping Sammy can pick me up some "Spohn" Red today so I can paint the transmission tonight.

After that I'll be turning my attention back to the engine bay and the brake booster and associated bracketery.

THEN it'll be a case of rolling the car on to a flat surface and finish POR15ing the floor pan between the front and rear sections which are already done.

THEN.  Engine in.

What do you think about getting something like this made up for a custom instrument panel?

It would be mega cool if you could have one of those programable display screens
That way you can decide on the layout and toggle display screens etc
