I'm taking part in the BHF London to Brighton Bike Ride 2010 on 20/06/2010 to raise money for British Heart Foundation and I'd really appreciate your support.

Luton to Letchworth & back which according to multi-map is 22.6 miles

Stopped a couple of times to adjust the chain guard and for water, total time on my heavy old bike 1hr 45 mins

Letchworth is famous for ????

The UK's 1st roundabout

Coming back into Hitchin it absolutely nissed down all the way home
Those two long hills coming back into Luton hurt, a very wet F Body :whip:

Good job you can't see the shorts

My gammy left knee was hurting a lot just after I got back, but soon perked up, the real test will be the cycle to the gym in the morning

I was in Letchworth yesterday afternoon... About 100 yards to the right of your first photo is a really cool 1930's art deco style cinema. Even even more inpressive on the inside.

Good job you didn't go riding in the afternoon as it was really hammering it down around 5:30...

Looking at the weather forecast for Sunday I bought my training ride forward to Saturday morning this week

Luton to Baldock and back this morning, just under 28 miles in 2 hours 10 minutes ( Stopped in Baldock to eat a banana and for a call of nature on the way back ).

Baldock famous for ????

Doesn't appear to be famous for anything

I thought this week I'd display my lycra clad Chicken legs

F Body

OK todays 34 mile training ride was to Stotfold and back

I can sum up the whole ride in two words, windy and

My hands and toes were numb with the cold despite my body sweating

I was a little disappointed with a total time of 2 hours and 36 minutes but did I mention it was

Stotfold famous for

Famous for the Stotfold Mill and by a wild coincidence their annual Steam Rally today

F Body

Ok todays 70km ( 43 mile ) ride went nowhere

With the rain and wind I retired to the bike in the gym

Dam my backside hurts, those bike gym seats are far too wide

Total time 2 hours 10 mins on the flat without any wind resistance

Weather permitting the same distance but out going to Royston and back next weekend

Well it was too hot today

Set off at 07:10am and got home at 10:45am - Total of 46 miles in 3 hours & 35 mins

The old A505 out of Baldock is almost like a ghost road now that they have the by pass, I almost gave up at the top of hill about two miles the other side of Baldock when I saw this sign

Still I ain't no quitter and got to Royston about 9am

No sign of Mr T so I took a picture of myself

NB : I'm Seriously thinking about getting a lighter weight bike for these longer runs, even though I'm as fit as I've been, it's gonna take me four hours to do the London to Brighton on the old nail

Completely missed this - I see Sammy has kindly offered a fiver from us both - can I get it to you at the next MKB meet ?

Went out with a group of other riders this morning, we all met on top of Dunstable Downs which was a nice 12 mile warm up ride for me

We did a nice tour of the Ashridge & Tring area, but it was very windy, no problem when the wind was behind you, but it was dam hard work into the wind and we had one puncture here at Ivinghoe Beacon

The boys got back into their cars on Dunstable Downs and I cycled back via Harpenden and Luton Airport,
which was a total of 51.06 miles

Gotta say I'm well impressed with the Claud Butler bike, it's seems the perfect combination of road/light trial bike

F Body

It's tomorrow

Looks like it's gonna be pretty cold on the start line at 06:30am

Going to give it my best shot, even if I have to crawl across the finish line

Two targets for the ride, firstly finish in less than four hours and secondly pedal all the way up Ditchin Beacon - the very long steep hill just before Brighton

Thank you to all those people who have sponsored me, I'll not let you down
There is still time to sponsor me and remember it's all going directly to the British Heart Foundation

so how did it go???

Got up at 3:30am and have just got home at 10pm

Did the 54 miles in 3 hours and exactly 30 mins

Also cycled up all the hills and reached a top speed of 44.6 mph

I left the start line in London at 06:48am and finished in Brighton at 10:18am, some of the Vauxhall entrants arrived in Brighton @ 17:15pm

I'm not doing that again

NB : £103 total raised

May do the ride again but not in that format

8+ hours hanging around for the others to finish was too long and the air con on the coach was broken on the way back, so the heating was stuck on full blast. The traffic was dreadful ( no surprise there ) so we had nearly fours @ 96F in a mobile sauna

After a lie in this morning to 7am I'm good to go

F Body

I said that Ditchling Beacon the last big 1:4 hill before you drop down into Brighton was the toughest part of the ride, well if you actually cycle up it !
Some poor bugger died going up it
