Just voted in the General Election, postal votes for the win

Although I think all the main parties are as bad as each other, I think it should be illegal not to vote

Fieldy

Just went to register.... Time for registering has passed already.

Bloody stupid IMO as there is still over a week to go

Incursus

Thought postal votes had to be in by the 20th...

Only got them in the post today

and the self adhesive flaps were missing, ruddy council can't even get the envelopes right

Gator

postal voting before the 20th for the win after the 20th for the loose

Kenny

Probably depends on the area.  Ours (beds) is due end of the week I think.  Did ours s few minutes ago.  If you miss the post by date you can just drop it off at your local polling station :)

No.

On the form they say if you haven't received them by the 26th to call them.  And then to return immediately.

Just mine then.

Maybe they assume that people living in North M.K are lazier then those in South M.K hence give them more time ?

That's a ridiculous statement.

It goes against the whole ethos of being "free" and if you can't find a party that you actually agree with then what's the point?

Seems perfectly reasonable to me

That way everyone has some responsibility for how the country is run and can make changes if they don't like the current incumbents

If you don't vote you have no right to comment on what the Government is doing, or how it might effect you

HardRockCamaro

Thanks to freedom of speech you have every right to comment, but you must accept that if you want it to change you should vote.

Although imho voting in the hope of getting you want is like being made to pick between chocolate coated peanuts, reese's peanutbutter cups and plain peanuts, when you have a peanut allergy...  They're all bad choices and you don't actually want any of them and being forced to eat one of them is not going to solve your peanut allergy...

Gator

i dont want anyone voting that doesnt want to if they have no idea of why they are doing it and the consequences

philoldsmobile

It shouldn't be illegal to not vote, but it should be illegal to complain about the government if you fail to vote..

HardRockCamaro

But I complain about who wins X-Factor and I don't vote (or even watch it, LOL!)...

philoldsmobile

but X factor was forced upon us.. we didn't get the opportunity to vote as to its presence..

Gator

Titsy

I'm confused, am I goming to be forced to vote for someone on X-factor next Thursday...

You'll have to narrow it down a little...
