The original list mate, always the same never changes. ie the new ones at the bottom of the page and the originals at the top

One thing to check (before you try a page refresh), is to see what label the smiley has.  If it's using a cached page rather than rebuilding it, it will still be :boobs:.

could be, but from memory it checks each time it visits the site

Doesn't explain why the ranking wouldn't work though, it should read the database every time it builds the page, so the ranking are changing all the time.  I can't see why a browser would have any affect on the SQL that is running in the background.
