As some of you will remember Mike ( Rocky's Uncle ? ) bought Rafe's ( Giblets ) old IROC Z28 some time ago and Rocky was doing the paintwork

Incredible I'd have bet my wife that you weren't going to like it

philoldsmobile

its spookily similar to my previous favorite Camaro, owned by a friend of mine in the US.

I'll see if i can dig out a pic.

Incursus

Still not sure I like the bonnet but the rest is

philoldsmobile

the bonnet is the only thing i'd change too, the 90 - 92 Z28 bonnet would be perfect. Thats not to say that i dont like the bonnet, but it could do with a paxton blown 383 under there to make the bark match the bite.

philoldsmobile

here ya go - unbelievably sweet... just perfect. belongs to a friend of mine in the US, seen and ridden in the car, its just awesome.

Giblets

Holy crap!
That's my old gal?

I agree about the bonnet. I always hated that Trans-am bonnet and it doesn't work here, but everything else looks pimp especially the rims.

It's great to see her back on the road anyway.

Hope he didn't find too many more bullet holes, but thats what goes down around my way.

Hope all are well?

I've been cold turkey on cars for 3 years now and gotten into photography a fair bit as Mel says my camera doesn't take up room on the drive!

One day soon though, I shall return to the fold....

Probably when the kids are in school and we save on nursery fees

Love from the Giblets family.

xx

Andy

Flicking between the two, is the deck lip spoiler bigger on the top one?

Was that a factory option?

HardRockCamaro

The larger deck spoiler is not a factory option.  However it is much closer to the size of the actual IROC race rear deck spoiler.

I'm not keen on the bonnet either but the stance, wheels and colour are awesome.

Phil:  I had no idea that that SS belonged to a friend of yours.  I remember seeing it on 3rd gen org, it is a beautiful example of how to modify a car as it looks like it could have been factory.

From speaking with Mike there are engine plans afoot... after a summer of enjoyment

I'll have to upload my pics too.

yeah, snowy jays car. i have a couple of pics from philly, but they were at night, so they aren't so good (the car has since changed hands). That one was taken just before we left for the thirdgen nationals in MD 2003

Andy

What's the deal with the wheels, they look like they have a much shallower offset compared to standard wheels.

philoldsmobile

mikes look like they are just a thick center, the ones on jays camaro were Z06 vette wheels, fitted with 2" spacers. (don't confuse with the crappy slide over ones, these bolt to the hub, and have their own studs - the load presented to the bearing is the same as stock wheels)

Sorry for the quality, my phone cam isn't brilliant

Dean, look closely @ the front arch pic, this car has the same drop kit as yours, we'll see where yours ends up once its settles.

Looks like someone needs to adjust their panhard arm (or get an adjustable one) - the rear D/S wheel looks like it is protruding a bit . . . . ?

Looks great (except the hood - IMHO) - but that rear geometry needs sorting.

Nice choice of ducktail spoiler too.

Rocky

Just the way the car is sitting on the grass I think thats why it looks higher on that side. Rear end is set up to get that wide a wheel in there.

Roadkill

What panhard are you running - BMR ?

Can't remember if I said this before but tell Mike to stay away from the BMR upper panhard (incase he's looking at a larger exhaust system) - I had loads of issues fitting that on mine.

Rocky

Upper panhard is standard, not alot of people change it, I dont really go for BMR stuff anyway as had a few people I know in the States had bits snap on them. He has a 3" Maganflow on it now. Thought you were running all Spohn stuff?

They've changed the bolts that comes with now, they're the proper dual-diameter ones (IIRC from the box with mine in)

I still ordered extras from Spohn tho

Yeah, I did mine as the bushes were knackered and the bar corroded a bit plus at the time didn't know what exhaust I was gonna run.

All except the upper panhard . . . BMR are the only people to do a replacement . . . that's aimed at people running a 3" rear-exit system mainly to give them more clearance.

I could get away with stock, now, but, as I say, at the time didn't know what I was doing with the exhaust (still don't in fairness . . . ).

Yeah - that's another thing BMR supplied the wrong bolts with it !!

Spohn all the way - not impressed with the BMR bits I had . . the other part was a battery tray made specifically for the third gens . . . . it didn't fit AT ALL !!

Utter crap.

Spohn all the way

Giblets

Looks like he kept my American Thunder Flowmaster exhaust at least. Would have been crazy to bin it as it was under 1 year old and sounded the business.

Rocky

Yep sold the exhaust, Fully polished stainless exhaust from manifold all the way back. The tips didnt look good on the Flowmaster with the rear bumper so had to go.
