For the last 2 years I've been with Sureterm for the Camaro, who have regularly quoted around 300 quid fully comp, much less than anyone else. Not this time - £672 is the best they can manage, even after ringing them. So time to get on the phone I guess!

So - who are you all with at the mo'?

ianjpage

im with Adrian Flux and Vicky is with MCE...

Make sure ya play them off each other

Been with MCE the past few years.

However...

They are a pain in the arse as they start calling you chasing you to renew 2 MONTHS before your policy is up.  They also mark your renewal up by hundreds of pounds hoping you're just that daft.

But of greater concern is that Edge had a couple of policies for them where they had put through the wrong details (ie not what they were told on the phone) to get the policy price down.  So check your policy carefully when you get it as if you should need to claim you know full well they'll void it and deny all knowledge that you ever told them anything different...

Flip Martian

Blimey...! Worth remembering, that. Ta....!

EDGE

Yep, mce are a nightmare. There's a load of threads on the mustang forum about them  Lots of people have had issues with mce . I won't touch them.

I'm with a-plan and flux for my 2.

I'm with Competition Car Insurance for the camaro and the pickup. Bearing in mind what the camaro is capable of, my insurance for that is around £320pa fully comp on a limited mileage, 5000 pa, and a guaranteed value of £40k

They'll insure just about anything not just competition vehicles

Is that through the NSRA?

I was initially with graham sykes, as they were the only people who would touch a 20 year old.

switched to Adrian flux, and i am with them now, as they do similar policies to the yank ones for 'specialist cars' basicly BMW Audi Mercedes and Alfa.

Yeap - had my renewal through 2 weeks ago - is due on 13th July.
I was paying £56ish a month and they put it up to £66.31 a month (for 10 months)
Called Adrian flux yesterday who could do £445 or paying monthly would be just over £500.

Called MCE to check my quote - didn't even mention that I'd called elsewhere - they went through the details and quoted me £270!!! Paying monthly makes it £360 in total (£36 per month).
Adrian flux could only get down to £370 which would go up paying monthly

Have gone with MCE again for now.
Did have loads of issues with them when had a claim in the past that wasn't my fault but it did get sorted in the end.

Main down side with staying with MCE is don't get 'drive other cars 3rd party when not in your name'. Adrian flux do include this on their policies

No, the last time I spoke to one of the jokers at the NSRA they wouldn't consider the camaro because a) it was only 6 years, and b) because it had been 'mucked' around with!! That's rich coming from the National Street Rod  Association

Flux did me a great deal last year. Up for renewal again soon so we shall see.

philoldsmobile

flux did me a fairly average deal, only a few quid cheaper but with a 5000 mile limit, but their european breakdown cover was about 1/3 the price of anyone else's, so they got my vote.

BTW - flux charge a horrible interest rate on their payments (something like 29.9% APR springs to mind), so if you can, you're better off paying it up front by credit card, and paying the equivalent of the installment off your card each month.

Flip Martian

All good and useful stuff there. Always useful to have people's experiences. Thanks very much!

Grrrr, American insurance, still something I don't like.

After having a quick ring round earlier this year I swear they just knock up the age limit a year at a time. When I was 20, you had to be 21, at 21, had to be 22. Now 22, you have to be 25... ffs!

Very envious of all you lot, so if you think being youngs 'all that', then it does have some draw backs!

Roadkill

Had my first Yank two months after passing my test at 20.

4.2Litre V8 Dodge Dart . . . Roadhouse !

Think it was about £450-£500 a year, TPFT, with Adrian Flux.

That was just over ten years ago, mind you . . .

My renewal just came through the post today from CCI for the camaro.

Fully comp, agreed £40k value, 5000 miles pa and all modifications noted and agreed.

The new premium is up by £12.06 to £339.36 with 5 years no claims. If I used my main no claims from the daily driver it would reduce to £306.45.

CCI are very good..... most Vipers are now with them
