Is it still possible to buy a classic yank with mot for around £1k?

Now im talking a beater, and pre 70, ideally but def' pre 80.

I wanna buy my old man a car but have limited budget, i need to keep a few thousand aside for repairs on said car but to make it viable the car needs to be as cheap as possible.

Im coming over early 2011 so thats the time scale.

Oh and before someone says anything, just under 3 years ago I bought a 67 Dodge Dart for less so it used to be possible.
Is it still? anyone?

I'd say very very very unlikely, at the moment there is absolutely nothing on ebay that matches your criteria.... £1k gets something utterly dire like a chevy cavalier or a beaten to death 4 cylinder fiero

there are a few currently inder £1k, but i'd expect all of these to end well over £1000 there are currently a couple of thirdgns at £1k, but they will go up, and there are a couple of fiero 2.5's  - one cheap as chips but a non runner, the other tidy, buy it now £795

I remember the days when something like that caprice would fetch no more then £795, and it wasn't that long ago!!

I was once offered the oldsmobile version of this (cutlass) at £150!! but having a better cutlass at the time it seemed expensive for something i didn't want..

This is by no means unusually expensive now. (well it wouldn't be if it weren't rotten as a pear)

Hey Phil, it sure does seem the Classic car market in the UK has changed in the last 3 years.

philoldsmobile

oh yes, it definitely has.

try finding a mk2 escort... when I were a lad (well, 17 or 18 years old) you could pick them up anywhere for a couple of hundred quid, ditto capris.. then one day they were all gone.

isn't it about 4am in Canada right now?

I'm sure Deans Eldorado was less than £500

Saying that I sold my 72 Duster as a rolling Chassis with more filler than metal for £800  bought it as a runner for £1200 four years previously!

nick69

Yeah its almost 3am, cant sleep!! Its the start of Moose Mating season and they make so much bloody noise!!!
