Not quite as glamourous as Motorama's latest purchase but she's a Caddy all the same.

Picked up my first Coupe DeVille on Friday as a Winter replacement for the Radian.

£650 - needs a new battery but came with 13 gallons of petrol !!

In far better condition than my old '85 Eldo was so I'm sure I can turn a small profit on her when I'm done.

Pity about the colour, mind you . . . .

I'll get some better pictures later . . .

Motorama

I'm guesing 4.1 V8

The colour is known in the trade as 'hearing aid beige!'

Yeah - it's been thrown around a bit already . . . . . I prefer "Cream"

What engine is in that?

Indeed, 4.1L V8.

Good little motors - won't set the world on fire but do the job . . . plus this one sounds lovely !
It appears to be the stock system but just sounds really nice.

On further inspection this afternoon I've discovered that she appears to have had a full service very recently . . . the air filter is clean the the oil still very clear.

We performed a volt check that seems to confirm the battery's dead - I'm guessing this was why there was so much fuel in her as we found an AA recovery slip which discribes a "cutting out" issue (the same as I encountered on the drive back) - however the AA man has diagnosed it as a ingition switch (which I strongly doubt) so I'm guessing the previous owner decided to get shot quick and lumber it onto a garage.

Net result appears to be that I've picked up an absolute bargain with a p!ss easy-to-fix problem.

Motorama

didnt you have a cutting out problem on one of you're other Caddys which was a bad earth?

Bearing in mind that hearing aids are designed to be hidden, does that mean you can stand next to the Caddy naked and not be seen

Me thinks this could be a good drinking game

Who's thread was up recently about buying a yank for under a grand. I think RK has proved it hear. With a little bit of noggin power you'll have a cracking motor.

Two Caddys on the drive now... What's your name, Andy!

This is the third time that's happened in the last couple of years, now.

Although two 50's Caddies would be nicer.

Come on RK!

PhilO gave her a polish yesterday and I went round doing "little tidying jobs", too - so I'll take some pics tonight.

Not perfect but pretty good.

There's a couple of "gentle dents" in the P/S . . neither have broken the paint and, although not small, are only noticeable from certain angles.

PhilO commented that it was the shiniest car I've owned - even more so than the '92 Eldo which is saying something.

My next job is to re-stick the bloody headlining !!!!

Slacker  I'd would have polished it before you brought it home

Roadkill

Some more pictures . . . Admittedly I need to move her to an area where I can get all round her to get some better ones but tonight I was too busy tinkering on the Camaro.

It must be those chrome trims running above the sills but it makes the windows look massive!

Still massively awesome though!

philoldsmobile

I think the window tint has that effect too, its such a contrast against the light coloured body. with the interior being much the same colour as the outside, i don't personally think it would do any harm loosing the tint, especially as its going to be a winter car..

I like tints, but generally lighter than that, and on newer cars.
