looking at our monthly bills we pay....

for a bt line, sky basic subscription, and aol broadband over £70 pm ..

we dont watch a lot of tv, motor sport, sport, discovery etc... no films, soaps, prancing on ice etc... and we have no hard drive recording...

virgin are offering packages that are much more ''interestin''

but some people complain about their customer service...

so who has which packages and how do you find them,
sky,bt,virgin,aol ...etc

virgin have their half price for 6 months and free install on here at the moment

Virgin, I can confirm thier customer service is awful, they messed me about for about 3 months! I never got the deal they told me I could have and never got a working phone or internet line either.  They then tried to get me to pay bills that wern't mine too, would give them a wide birth.

Sky, currently messing us around we moved in on 26 Nov, still no phone line or internet connection! because again they told us we could have a certain package, then denied all knowledge of offering it to us! so now we get the phone line'apparently' on the 18 of this month and then the internet 2 weeks after that, the customer service is pants.

BT, they were fine no problems at all, cost a little more but to me it was worth it.

BT were epically useless in the end, after nearly ten years they didn't seem interested at all.

Sky rock  !! - No issues as yet.

Virgin b/band - when it worked it was brilliant speed (which to be fair was most of the time), but yeah customer service - not good.

BT - We use them Purely for the line and never had any issues - installed / activated on the day we wanted

Sky - got the broadband, sky+ HD and Phone calls through them and pay about 30-40 a month for it all (the b/band is a fiver a month cos we got the other bits!) - all works fine, fairly good customerservice when i've needed to ring them, so would suggest you swithc the b/b to sky and yer calls and just pay the basic BT line rental - although sky do offer line rental as well, so may well do a deal - best thing is give their sales line a call and ask

Do A(rseh)OL(es) still even exist ?

Only problem with sky in my part of MK is the appalling download speeds; if you get more than 1.5meg you've really done well!

my part of MK i

I think I remember where you are - I have a buddy in Wavenden Gate (near you I think) who says it is terrible, like under 1meg. I am in the middle of a field, litteraley, and we can even manage 3.5/5meg

will have to give sky a ring.....and tell em im leaving to join virgin....
.and see what they offer.......

it might be easier than having the virgin cable put in...

but will it be better in the long run..[future proof...just a pair of copper wires from bt..?]

No worry's with Virgin's customer service.........there isn't any

I have to pay 38 bucks a month just for 10mb broadband, we can't use a telephone line service because we are too far from the exchange

UPDATE:::

virgin offer;
free cable installation, wireless cable router, 10mb b/b 160ch tv,free weekend, and free calls to virgin mobiles,
v+ hd box,hd channels

= 50ppm

had a chat with sky leaving dept....

sky much the same when i told them the virgin deal,
less free hd channels, free sky +,but no free calls to mobiles, [we could change all 4 of ours to virgin]
£48ppm

the downside as i see it is the b/b speeds, the old bt lines will be used and sky offer 20mb but in reality they dont deliver, on the up side the usage is not capped...

all in all not bad as we will be saving £20+pm..
and getting a v+ or sky+ box..
so which will it be.....

The V+ box is apparently better than the Sky+ box....my brother tells me

We have no choice in MK, has to be Sky.
