Roadkill

As briefly mentioned before I intend to host the next LAN event at CRK on the Long weekend 22-25 of April (the Easter weekend that preceeds the Royal Wedding/Mayday weekend).

Due to the relatively slow start to the previous LAN (nobody's fault) It's clear that we all lacked a bit of organisation.
Therefore this time I intend to suggest and agree a list of games, then we can download / acquire BEFORE the event as required.

As it's MKB LAN number twelve I'm going to suggest covering twelve games over the gaming days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) - I'm open to gaming on Monday, too, BTW.

Suggestions for games is more than welcome.

Gaming will take place in the (now dry ) Garage, leaving the House free for Chillin' / DVD's in the evening.

The general plan is :

Gaming all days with maybe DVD(s) on Saturday and Sunday nights and a planned BBQ for Sunday lunchtime.

Accomodation will have changed slightly :

There'll no longer be the spare bed in the small front room but will be floor space (only) in the larger spare room and obviously loads of sleeping space downstairs, too.

I'll be around the whole time so am happy to start/finish whenever people want.

If people want to sort a Wii out that's fine with me.

I'll conpile a list of games later.

Twelve games is gonna be a challenge to find . . .

I want at least two games of Battle of Britain on Battlefield 1942.

I also enjoyed the Half-Life 2 : Death Match game, too.

UT2004 is a given - did we play that last time ?

Flat Out : UC - People need to acquire this one.

Battlefield BC 2 - Will my connection speed be good enough ? And again, people need to get hold of it.

It won't harm doing an hour or so of BF2, either, especially if BF:BC2 isn't a go-er.

Well.  That's 6.

I still like Desrt Combat, too but It'd be good to introduce some new stuff.

Shotgun the floor space in the bedroom please, we can bring our double airbed.

Should fit O.K (we'll have the baby furniture in there by then so can't say for sure how much space there'll be).

its basically time-trial racing around tracks that you can make yourself.
I would recommend getting it in advance & everyone having a go at building a track or 2 for us to play on.

What was the GTA4 suggestion - is that multiplayer - I thought there was an issue with that or am I thinking of something else ?

The top one on this page.

Alternatively Trackmania United Star Edition is available through Steam for £20 which gives you access to all the other vehicle types, modes expansions etc etc that they've ever made this game. this is obviously optional though as we'll be using the free version @ the LAN.
The 2 'games' are fully compatible with each other.

Steam tells me you were playing TM nations last night - swotting up ?

philoldsmobile

if you're having trouble finding twelve games, are there any old arcade type games that are public domain and can be played online?

Roadkill

The list so far :

Half Life 2 Deathmatch - Should already have this from last LAN

Half Life 2 Deathmatch: Source - Currently £5.99 at Steam

Team Fortress Classic - (I've never played it) - £2.99 at Steam

Flat Out : UC - Need to buy - no prices as yet.

Battlefield 1942 (B.o.B) - Should all have

UT2004 - Should all have

BF2 (selected maps) - Should all have

Trackmania Nations Forever - FREE at Steam

GTA4 - Maybe a limited few who can play this ??

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - £19.99 at Steam (and there's add-ons).

That's 10 so far.

Yeah I decided to get the full version, I loved the original games & was genuinely dissappointed when they wouldn't work on Windows 7, this does

As I say, if everyone gets the free version now, plays it a bit, & especially has a go with the level designer we can all play our own home grown tracks

Didn't see that bit yet (I downloaded it yesterday).  It's not bad - I recall Chris playing it at some pont a while back . . .

Don't remember it at a LAN.

FUBAR

we did play it once, not for long though, Losty was there so it was a while ago & it was at My house, may well have been the first one I hosted.

Ahh, Losty.  Always a laugh.  Except if you had to share a room with his snoring.

Ideas on numbers, if you please, ladies and gents.

Thanking you.
