Nitrous Gas laughs ( pun intended ) at water

Using water to extinguish burning petrol is a waste of time. Look at the trail of burning fuel that's being washed away by the water...

putting a Nitrous fire out with anything is very difficult,  its an oxidising agent, so the fire requires far less oxygen to burn. you gotta stop the flow of gas.

Andy

Also reminds me of that guy who burnt down on the line. Think that was a NOS fire, then the Magnesium manifold kicked!

Obviously, but attacking a petrol fire (be it mixed with a nitrous leak or not) with just water is not the correct thing to do. They should have been using foam. Letting a river of burning petrol be carried away on the hose water towards a tree line is just not the way to fight that sort of fire.

that aint gonna do....a plastic car much good.....
This forum needs, ''YOU'' posting,Not just reading ! :moon:

Big Mouse

Its supercharged, what makes you think it was a nitrous fire? Having been sat in a nitrous fire I can tell you that it burns a lot fiercer than that! Fortunately a powder extinguisher kills it real quick just takes hours to clean it up afterwards

Thats just a fuel line gone. Supercharged bigblock means major fuel pump to keep up = many gallons of fuel. Why didn't someone just hit the kill switch?

Dumbass with the hose ought to have it fed into him from the wrong end. Water on a fuel fire is just plain stupid

Roadkill

Foam or powder.

Water ain't gonna do anything to burning fuel.

Didn't look the right colour for a NO2 fire . . . . ?

philoldsmobile

Couldn't see the video at work, but no, the colour is right for fuel.  From the vids i've seen, nitrous fires are much brighter, bluey white focused and fierce (linda like oxy acetylene)
