20k on the same oil

i ran my astro for over 3 years as a daily and done 37,000 miles in it and i never changed the oil or even had to top it up.
it was always run on lpg and every time i checked the oil always looked clear, not like new but it was never black.

tbh, i never spent a penny on it service wise because it just kept going.
no advisories on the first 3 mots and on the last i got two, n/s front tyre worn on edge and rear brakes low. i sold it then lol

Roadkill

Passed 198,000 today . . . in fairness, with Sammy having her own car and me on training quite a bit, the Mondeo's had a proper holiday of late !

Incursus

Had to change the o/s/r handbrake cable this week for the MOT on mine....and apparently the tax ran out in April...oops

Anyway all good now and as I've done about 10,000 miles since the last service in November she'll be getting another while I'm off next week

Should probably do the Mustang too

Roadkill

Passing 199,000 today.

Got a few reasonable trips lined up for the next week so will see the big 200K in early July.

Roadkill

The big 2-0-0-0-0-0 will happen tomorrow . . . got a 240-mile, two-site day planned.

yeah know what you mean - going from spending 70 quid a week on fuel, to 60 quid every month is much nicer !

Not so bad when you it back almost double at the end of the month though

yup, if you get it back - that was money i was spending and NOT getting back on expenses as those were 'normal' commuting costs - Business miles on expenses rock though

Roadkill

Yeah - expenses are great - today alone got me around £110 and the fuel only probably cost £25-max.

She blitzed the 200,000 mile-mark, of course . . . on about 200,137 at the moment.

She passed it on the way back from Tamworth . . . So as a treat I detoured into Stony Stratford and picked up new Oil & Air filters, 5L of 5W 30 Semi and a can of engine flush.  I also chucked in half a bottle of Redex injector cleaner when I filled up earlier, too.

Service parts = £31.00 - my only outlay during the second year of ownership so far (since 20th February that is).

She's been cleaned but I didn't pay for that.

A photo of the occasion . . .

And a Video, too . . !

Changed the Oil and Air Filters earlier this afternoon - Great weather for it

New oil, too, obviously . . . Even gave the engine bay a wipe round (looks surprisingly a lot better).

Will investigate the belt and decide if I'm doing that too.

Have been a little concerned about the economy she's returning of late but the last tank returned just over 700 miles (which was a 60/40 mix of motorway and town journies) so am happy, there !!

Last tank averaged : 57mpg - Not the best but still perfectly acceptable.

Roadkill

Economy has now gone up a bit . . . seems she prefers the colder weather ?????

Anyway.

She passed 205,000 miles a few days back.

Still going strong.  Nothing to report.

Would guess she'll need new rear tyres for winter.   Maybe front brake pads (the first since I've had her).  We'll see.

I assumed the fuel economy will improve with cooler weather on most cars, due to the denser air.

Roadkill

I assumed it'd be worse as the car is on "choke" longer . . . ?

Andy

Diesels don't have a choke, they just run like a bag of shit for 10 mins after start up.

Mine always performed better in winter, I put it down to the intercooler being a LOT more effective with cold air hitting it as opposed to it be relatively warm all the time under the bonnet.
