That's good as she hasn't been cleaned since around September - about 21,000 miles ago.

The interior is getting a bit grubby, though so I'll be booking her in for a valet after the brakes are done . . .

Cunning Plan

Nice job dude, good problem solving skill
1968 VW T2 Bay Bus (currently being restored and upgraded)
1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ (modern classic daily driver)

good to hear your hard work has paid off.....

its nice to fix your own stuff than give it to others,
to hear...''cant get the parts/not worth repairing mate''

ive just spent 2 hrs removing the audi drivers door lock and repairing it,

instead of spending £130 for the lock at audi,
and letting some wally try and mend it ..
This forum needs, ''YOU'' posting,Not just reading ! :moon:

So.  One of my neighbours backed into the Mondeo Saturday night.

Given her age I haven't made much of a fuss.  I gave it a quick bashing and T-Cut and it looks better.
Pity it cracked the paint otherwise you (or I should say, "I") wouldn't notice it.

Also changed the Oil £20, Oil Filter £4 and Air Filter £4 last night, too . . . along with the recent fuel filter she's the most serviced she's ever been !!!!!!

Have got the rear pads to do tonight then she's all up-to-date.

Roadkill

Well this one's been a battle but she passed 225,000 earlier today.

I was considering replacing her with a 300C towards the end of the year but £6000 for a 7 year old 300C seems a bit silly.
'08 Plate (new shape) Mondeo's are going for £3,500 and with my generally good experiences with Mondeo's to date I'd be daft not to get another.

Who knows, though . . this one might hang on a bit longer.

Yeah, looking to get a new(er) shape nearer the end of the year/early next year, should have saved enough to pickup a 40k mile Titanium X by then...give or take.

Prices may drop slightly near the the end of the year as the new 2013 model should be out by then.

Andy

Save up for the new face lift... It's actually really nice!

Yeah... maybe in 3-4 years time when the next car starts to die.

Yeah, that's why I'm hoping my current one survives a little longer  . . . . prices of the current new model will probably drop about 30% when the new one comes out.

Incursus

Mmm just read a few articles that suggest the New Mondeo release date has been pushed back to late next year

Roadkill

I don't think mine will hold on til then !

Incursus

Hmm got my eye on one but need to save another month...unless someone wants to give me £1k for the Mondeo

Was rubbish didn't even bother asking for the keys

Got another Mondy to look at this weekend and a wildcard to test drive this evening..

Best I've been offered for the old Mondeo?  £600  I paid just over £2k not even 2 years ago.

I reckon you'll get more than that on eBay - I saw a '06 TDCi with over 200,000 miles up for a grand !

I reckon I could punt mine for £750-850 with a carefully written advert and some good pictures.

Andy

Depreciation is the biggest draw back with Furds! 10 a penny, sadly even if its well looked after it still won't hold with the market being flooded with others.

The positives you should spin are either the lack of the dreaded DPF and it having its DMF (if its had it done). My old diesel (wish I'd kept it now) would be a dream nowadays, no DMF, no DPF, no worry of the turbo dying, still did about 500 to a tank. There's a lot to be said for agricultural engineering!

Mine is considerably more tatty than yours..though higher spec and runs perfectly.

Yeah, even We Buy Any Car offered £500 not not much to loose giving it a punt on Ebay... might even try and "T-Cut" off the handprints that have been on there since I got it

Indeed hence the wildcard I'm looking at tonight, the Mondeo's will half in value in the 2 years I plan to have it where as this one will only lose about a 1/4...going on todays prices, ages etc.
On the other hand the Fords are relatively cheap to maintain and really good cars.

Incursus

Still a Mondeo Man

59 plate Titanium x in storm grey 48K on the clock, should do me a couple of years.

Roadkill

You know it makes sense.

Andy

Wow! Nice! Git any pics? The Tit X models look the nuts!

Incursus

Just got it home, bit dark for pics but will try and take some tomorrow.

All good so far though doesn't seem to play music over the bluetooth...maybe I'm just spoilt with Jags and Range Rovers

Andy

Sadly the only draw back with the Bluetooth Ford unit, won't stream audio. Have you Etis'd it?

Plumb your details in here: http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=3BDE8422A8C3296E25C6A28466E117F1.fcvas506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=3BDE8422A8C3296E25C6A28466E117F1.fcvas506

See if it has any nice options!

Yeah, looks like I could update the module but they're not cheap and I'm not that bothered, I can still use my old bluetooth->FM transmitter jobby for long journeys, to plumb in the Satnav & tunes.

Mostly listen to the radio on my commute..which is now DAB

Yup Etis'd it but no surprises, my old Ghia was fairly high spec so the only new bits to go wrong are the adaptive headlights, curry warmers, bluetooth/voice control thingy and keyless start.

Andy

I will warn you, the Bluetooth/voice control for inputting phone numbers sucks balls.

You have to say the numbers and took me a bit to long to realise saying 'ohh' doesn't get you a zero. It can only take about 4 numbers at a time as well. Oh and some times she throws a strop and just ignores you, which is nice and rude.

*hits voice button*

me: Phone

*awkward pause*

her: COMMAND PLEASE!

Me: Phone

Her: COMMAND PLEASE!

Me: PHOOOONE!

Her: Radio.

Me: Cancel! Cancel, forget it!

Her: Command canceled.

Then we just sit in silence for the rest of the journey.

It must have an aux input at least...
