Well it's quite smart looking for a big old barge and there is no mistaking it's a Caddy

Incursus

Cool.  Now if they can just make it do ~60mpg...

HardRockCamaro

There Is a good video on YouTube demonstrating the dash and infotainment. State of the art.
I'd really like one!!!

Roadkill

Unfortnately all we seem to get here are the 2- litre BuLlShit ones.

I expect we'll miss out on that one, too.

EDGE

thats very pretty

when we go on holiday next year Ive already told Gemma to factor in the ost of a Cadillac  DTS for the duration.... Im not doing the mileage that we're planning in anything else!  I'll do bits of it in a drop top mustang, but Gem will have to follow in the Caddy as I wont be giving it back!

the centre section looks quite mercedes CLS..

The XTS is the replacement of the STS/DTS and sits between them in size.

It will be the flagship with the CTS sitting below and sized between 3 and 5 series.

The Cadillac ATS will sit below the CTS in between the 1 and 3 series.

With the Northstars replacement, the Ultrastar, canned when GM ran out of money I guess it's v6's from here on in...

Never did understand the northstar being deleted -surely it would be the best engine to use in a modern executive car?

The Northstar was great, it was originally released around 1993 producing 285bhp and by 1998 was producing 300bhp, by 2005 it was a rwd application producing 330bhp with the addition of infinitely variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust.  The supercharged variant as fitted to the STS-V made almost 470BHP iirc.

By the time that XTS would hit the dealers the engine would be 20 years old, maybe that's just not acceptable these days...

It did have a rep for blowing head gaskets, mostly due to neglect on coolant changes...  Although I only ever saw 3 people post on the Caddy forums to say their had gone while I was on there and that was over nearly 6 years so I'm not sure how blown out of proportion that issue was...

GM were a fair way down the route of designing the new Ultrastar, the theory being it would raise the bar for V8's like the Northstar did when it was first released.  With fuel prices rocketing up, the sale of large cars declining but the sales of smaller cars like the CTS gathering momentum with its impressive direct injection petrol V6 producing around 300BHP, and then bankrucpy looming they killed the project.  They also killed the diesel engine that was meant for European Caddies and was 95% complete!  This was a big mistake imho, but their focus was o selling Cadillac to China etc where they don't care about having a diesel, they figured after years of trying in Europe it was better to focus their efforts over there, although I recon a diesel would have made a big difference to sales here.  Oh, especially if they showed some really good ads here.  Both Cadillac and Jeep have great US ads, none of which make it over here.  Sales are climbing there, and declining here.  I;m no Harvard Business School graduate but even I can spot that link...
