added a few bits tonite,

strange things.. these air cooled engines..

ive never seen parts like these on engines b4...

Nice Art!

You not thinking of going twin carbs?

More power and surprisingly more MPG as you aren't working the single carb as much.

aparrently a larger single progressive carb will do the trick...

and wont need constant balancing that twin carbs do

Naw, you will have issues, especially in winter, with carb icing and general running issues etc with a single.

Twins will only need balancing once. Really you can do it yourself to get it nearly there, then take it to a rolling-road to get it perfect. Then you should be good for thousands of miles. More MPG and more power!

painted h/e with thinned hammerite.

been stumped a bit as the pully i had for the crank was a larger aftermarket one,


it wouldnt fit into the case around the crankshaft,

it was all of 1mm too big,


ive got an original vw one on the way from a vzi member so it should get the engine into the bus soooon..

You should have said about the pulley, I'm sure I have a spare, I could have dropped it off yesterday

well... the pulley that arrived today fits great ..

.but... its buckled...

engine all built and ready to go in,

decided to repair the rear valance first, nice and easy to get in there without an engine fitted..


its been bodged a few times in the last 40 yrs..







inside ...






spent £150 on these panels...




chopped a fair bit out , and offerd this bit up...:up
inner valance.



outer valance..



welded in a piece in under the tank





theres a fair bit of welding and fabricating to do ....
all entertaining thou...

Ha! I had to do the exact same spot in mine! I think water must run down the filler pipe, drip-off there and accumulate. Either that or fuel if you aren't careful when you remove the petrol-pump from the filler-neck
