It's that time of the year!

BOTH the MKB Domain (the http://www.mkb.cc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.mkb.cc address) and the hosting package (for the forum, gallery etc) are up for renewal in Feb, but if we renew by Jan 28th we can save a shed load of money.

Renewal prices:

DOMAIN
1 year renewal = $19.98 per year = $19.98
2 year renewal = $39.97 per year = $79.94
3 year renewal = $59.97 per year = $179.91
5 year renewal = $99.95 per year = $499.75

however, if we renew before the cut off date the prices change to:

1 year renewal = $19.98 per year = $19.98 (no discount)
2 year renewal = $19.98 per year = $39.97 (saving of $39.97)
3 year renewal = $19.98 per year = $59.97 (saving $119.94)
5 year renewal = $19.99 per year = $99.95 (saving $399.80)

For the cost vs what we get, i'd suggest a 3 year renewal @ 59.97

HOSTING
4 year package (no options available without massive change!) = $107.88 per year = $431.52

However, again if we renew now, it works out at $83.88 per year = $335.52

For that we get:
150Gb Webspace
Unlimited bandwidth
500 Email accounts
50 FTP accounts
25 MySQL Databases (this is what runs the forum, website & gallery plus a few other bits)
plus loads of other addon's and tools etc.

So in short, i'd say 4 year hosting with 3 year domain so:

Domain: $59.97
Hosting: $335.52
Tax: $58.37
Total: $453.86
Less additional discounts: $51.45
G Total: $402.41
(Total saving: $147.45)

We do currently have money in the MKB kitty, but not enough, if you feel able to contribute, then please use the Paypal link in the top corner of the forum page

I'd love to BUT there is no direct migration route from MiniBB to PHPBB so it would really be a long winder, PITA to do - essentially i'd need to migrate to another 3rd party forum software, then export from there and then import into phpbb (when i last looked) so TBH it's so much work that i'm struggling to see the benefits currently

Huge thanks to everyone that's contributed - there is more than enough to cover the domain & hosting renewals so will get them done tomorrow .

If people still want to donate, then feel free as it will sit in the paypal until the next renewal

Once again a huge huge thanks to everyone

If the hosting lapses and the forum goes down and no one can find Ian, we will all know he is having a good time

ive done some welding but need to get a co2 bottle and reg ...
as the gassless stuff i used is too much hard work..

it ok for thick stuff,
but for thinner panels might as well use a stick welder...

DONE - renewed as above

well done ian....
im sure there plenty to do to keep the mkb forum going,

all in all the forum is a great local resource ,
with a good archive of stuff, and some banter from people who know each other and get on well

its good to look back at stuff we did 6-7  yrs ago...

its a shame so many other forums have been ruined by lazy people prefering to use fagbook ...

any forum is really only as good as its posted content ...

just reading stuff... and not posting is really just adding to the demise of them...

Yah, leaches. You need to put in to take out. I try my best to answer questions on the Jeep Club forum and EarlyBay as I take plenty from them. I use VZi a lot too, but I mostly post funny topics on there as there are plenty of (almost too many) people keeping the technical areas filled.

Yes, I am sure it is the core-people here that makes it so appealing. It is fast and fun. Literally, it opens quickly (thanks to Ian's maintenance ) and there is a range of topics discussed.

As I have said before, it is good to read about American cars, modifying a chair in your garage, a funny picture or to ask for advice and opinions.

Pretty impressive really that this place ticks over, especially as there is only really 4 or 5 main topic starters!
