Further to comments previously . . . list your cars (I've gone for date order) and maybe a bit about them . . .

Mine's pretty varied and starts in 1995/6 when I was 16/17.

MANY of these overlap (sometimes 4-5 at a time) so it may get confusing . . I just listed them in order that I bought them-ish.

Enjoy . . .

1995ish - First Car (Never driven) bought for £30 IIRC, 1983 Audi 80 . . ploughed loads a time and effort into it . . . got ripped off by a garage, lost faith in it . . . it was scrapped I think.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/IMG_0003_zps69feb008.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

1997ish - Next was my 1960 Humber SII Super Snipe . . . (still couldn't drive at this point).  Spent loads on it but left home / got married / got divorced / moved etc . . Sold it at a loss.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1960HumberSuperSnipeSII48_zps0535b232.png.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">
http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1960HumberSuperSnipeSII42_zps723f241c.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

1999ish - Next was a 1986 Vauxhall Astra (bought for £50, sold to some idiot for £220).

(No picture)

2000ish - Next (I think) was a 1989 Vauxhall Cavvy . . . Bought for £395, minor crash while I was drunk, sold for £550.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/223_zps7660f360.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2000ish - Err . . . maybe this next . . bought for spares for my first Humber . . . we all had fun tearing into her but the separation / divorce came at this time so the Humbers went (this was scrapped as planned).  This was a 1959 SI.

(That's a young Shifty, myself and Paul, there . . )

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1959HumberSuperSnipe33_zps9224b6f6.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2000ish - Now I loose track a bit but maybe it was this one . . . 1957 SI Humber Hawk . . . I kept this for quite a bit . . loved it dearly but got made redundant so it eventually got sold to pay the bills.

(That's Spike - RIP - in the picture on this one).

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1957HumberHawk8_zps1488ffad.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2001ish - Next ?  Dunno . . Maybe my 1993 Rover 820i . . . Great car, fekking pokey . . . I gave it to my ex-wife when we separated.

(My first Humber is under the sheet - the Rover is bottom, left).

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/a64_zps073bbd3a.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2002ish - Err . . . Maybe this next . . . I did a deal with my brother and managed to get this heap running.  It's a 1967 Dodge Dart.  My first Yank and my first V8.

(Pictures were taken after my ownership when it came up on eBay years later . . but it looked the same).

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1967DodgeDart2_zpsac014369.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2002ish - Next a Renault Chamade that was technically my Dad's.  I got into a prang with an uninsured driver . . . car was driveable but not pretty.  It went.

(No picture)

2002ish - Next I got a 1986 Rover 213L given to me . . . I was short of cash after redundancy so used it for a bit until things improved . . I gave it to my brother.

(It's the one to the right of this picture)

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1957HumberHawk3_zpsd9cb46dd.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2003ish - Next I think was Chris' Dad's old Jaguar.  1987 XJ6.  Nice car, took 4 nights of work to hoover out the horse hair from the seats but I enjoyed it . . . I used this for college for a short while but was made redundant immediately after finishing the course.  It went so I could pay the bills . . I've always fancied another.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/JaguarXJ64_zps8e7de87c.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

I'm not sure what I was driving next . . . I know I moved and sold my flat.  I reduced the fleet entirely so that I was left with only one vehicle (I think).

2003 - With the proceeds from my flat sale I bought a 1993 V6 Camaro (that was in 2003 when they were really rare in the U.K).

Sold it.  I think I wanted something more economical.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1994ChevyCamaroV64_zps73630207.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

Next - again ???  I think I drove Sammy's 206 for a while . . . ?

2004 - Next purchase was probably my '58 Caddy.  Still have this of course.

This began the long-running garage extension saga . . .

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1958CadillacSedanDeVille6_zps9566e572.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2004 - Next, another familiar one, 1983 Camaro, Z28.  Still got, again, of course.

The picture is an amusing "Fail" . . trying to ease the failing gearbox I added a really thick additive . . . only for it to completely jam-up the 'box . . after spending hours forcing in the additive, it all needed to be drained out !!  You live, you learn . . . That's Graeme "holding my hose" while I blew.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1983ChevyCamaroZ28_zpse9070bdb.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2005 - Maybe the Chav'scort next . . . bought from PhilO, 1994 Escort which was stolen twice and utterly abused by me . . sold to banger-racers.

This picture was taken after we (Titsy and myself) used it to ram a skip up the driveway as the skip company had delivered it too far away from the garage (where I wanted it).

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/blahs001_zpse862ffd8.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2006 - Bought purely for cutting up and making into "stuff" my last Humber, this time a 1960 SIII.  Time and other projects took flight so the two intended projects from this never happened.  It was great fun, though.  I even drove it for about half a mile <shudder>.

This picture shows my best "greased lightning" impression . . not at all like "I'm a little teapot" !!!

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/1960HumberSuperSnipeSIII14_zps21439e31.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2006-2007 - Technically I should add this.  Although Rob bought it we went halfsies.  The 1995 Pontiac that was cut up in the barn - it was a write-off.  The motor and 'box found its way into my Z28.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/Mis007_zpsbe35eaec.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">
http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/Bird_zpsb157c74d.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2007 - 1985 Cadillac Eldorado.  Pimpin'.  Loved this car.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/4ad9_1_zpsf211ac1a.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

Roadkill

2008 - Jinlun 125-11.  My first motorbike !!!.  Bought for a bargain, part-ex'd against a later Caddy.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/Jinlun005_zpsc52a2c66.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2008 - 1992 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe.  Lovely looking car, bland to drive.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/Sale006_zps8413e077.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2009 - 1986 Yamaha Radian 600.  My first "big" bike . . Loved it.  I did a semi-resto on it and sold it looking 10 times better than when I bought it.  Should've kept it.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/Sale015_zpsd1bf4766.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2010 - 1993 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L.  This was going to be my next daily as I got it for a bargain but, to be honest I though it was under-powered and boaty (and that was from a Caddy guy) !

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/Jeep018_zps6efb5a6f.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2010 - 1986 Coupe DeVille.  Saw it going cheap.  Bought it.  It did me for winter and I kinda liked it.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/CDV007_zps17aa8180.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2011 - 2005 Mondeo.  My long-suffering daily.

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/DSC_0161_zps9edb228e.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2012 - 1993 Camaro V6.  I bought another one !  Don't ask why . . . It just came up cheap.  I bid and, oh $hit, I won it.  Manual transmission, it was a bit of fun !

http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Roadkill-Auto/media/Random%20Shit/IMAG1050_zps86da12e6.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

2013 - Finally (at the moment) the 1994 Aerostar.  I never had a dayvan before and again it was going cheap.  I've promised myself not to buy any un-cool cars in the future . . . we'll see.

EDIT - I found two so added a second pic.

Not sure where the rest went, though.

Come on, Ian, you next.  You've had a good assortment of motors over the years.

I just listed them in order that I bought them-ish.

Great thread!

You should have kept the XJ

Out of interest and if you do not mind me asking, what do you do for insurance?

I keep looking at cars to use whilst I take my Cherokee off the road for a few weeks. I found a Jaguar XJ8 for £650 and I thought that it would be cool to cruise around in, but then I just think about taking out another insurance, the deposit, calculation costs etc.

Multicar policy maybe?

I just insure each one on it's own (normally minimum mileage).

I tend to get them for around £150 for the year that way . . . I try to insure them with the same insurer so lean on them heavily with the "loyal customer" bit.

The '58 costs around £100 a year.  The Pig was £120, the Z28 I think around £200.  That was with Adrian Flux.

I think you have to have 10+ cars for a "traders policy" ?

I meant more of a multi-car policy from the usual brokers, Admral etc.

Although, if a trader's-type of insurance was available for X amount where you could insure X number of cars up to X value. I would do that.

For example, I pay around £650 something for the Cherokee. If they just said, right for 1k, we will let you have 5 cars all included, I probably would.

They won't insure classics or yanks (unless U.K spec), normally . . .

I thought it would be hassle to find pictures, but it was actually quite good fun, so joining RK's lead, here we go!

The cunning fleet:

1989 Volvo 340 1.4 Petrol
My first car!
The car itself was solid and well built, however, the engine was total crap as it was a Renault engine from the factory (which made me hate French cars from the age of 17!). I guess Volvo did not have any 1.4 units, they also made a 1.7 version which did have a Volvo made engine in it. I am sure that was far better. Best thing about the car, it was Rear Wheel Drive and all my college buddies had Corsas

Sold for spares on the 10000000th breakdown.

This is not my exact one, but very close:

1993 Fiat Panda 1L Petrol

Bought to sell.
My sister's car that needed a little sorting out, so she just left it in her front garden, so I asked if I could have it. Did a few cheap bits, sold for £550.

Again, not my exact one, but the same:

1994 VW Polo 1.3 Petrol

The Volvo was broken every other day, so I had to try and get something a bit more reliable - or so I thought. Trusted someone by their 'word' and went all the way up to somewhere around Leeds to collect the car, it was fine on the way down, but then spent more time broken than the Volvo.

It was cheap though at £150 I think, sold for spares, some weird guys came to pick it up, paid me £100 and attempted to drive it back to somewhere like Birmingham, even though I had been brutally honest about the car, stating that it was for spares and needed to be trailered away

No idea how far they got.

Not the exact one, close enough:

1993 Vauxhall Carlton Estate 2.0 Petrol

******* terrible car. My Pop bought it as a tempoary car, then got a company car, so he kindly let me use it to get to uni. Used it for a while but hated it.

My Pop sold it as a part-ex for a Chrysler Grand Voyager, but the guy who took it as a part ex admitted he was just going to put the engine in a Fronteria and scrap the rest, it wasn't even worth trying to sell it on!

Sorry, not the exact one again, but very close, minus the alloys:

1989 VW Transporter T3 'Wedge' Panel Van 1.6 / 1.9 Diesel

My first bus. It started as an orange panel van with a 1.6 Diesel engine in it which was so slow. I spent quite a lot of money and did a lot of work on it. I resprayed it, lowered, wheels / tyres (see the American influence), rock sliders, converted the interior, stereo, PS1 in the back etc.

I took the fairly reliable, but so slow 1.6 out and converted a 1.9 Diesel from a 1995 VW Caddy Van to go in.

Enjoyed it for a while, then it dropped a valve. Sold for repair. It would have been nice to keep it and put another engine in, but it was so much work, I just wasn't sure I wanted to do it all again with the same van.

1988 Ford Escort 1.3 Petrol

Bought for £200, it needed a new alternator and the idle raising on the carb to artificially prevent it from stalling, but this was a dam reliable car if I am honest! I used it whilst I was working on the Wedge and I went to Uni for years in it, all the way to Cornwall etc.

MOT ran out, unfortunately, it would have cost more than the car was worth to weld it (not that much, like £120) and get it through, so I sold it to banger racers.

1999 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Petrol
Not terrible, but put me off Fords if I am honest.
Bought for £960, did 80k miles in it (163k-ish total on the clock) and towed my Bay around, so I'm grateful, but I did have to do a fair bit to it when I really think about it. Snapped coil spring, locking not working, door handles sticking, starter motor, bearings, bushes, occasionally hunting, battery etc.

Sold to the Norfolk banger racers.

1968 VW Transporter T2 (Bay)

Current main project. You guys all know this one, so I won't bore you further.

1968 Morris Minor 1.3 Petrol
This was FREE from Plymouth, the only thing we had to do was go and get it. It was all seized and difficult to get on the trailer, but it was surprisingly solid, I doubt it would have taken much to get on the road. I joint-owned it with my housemate at the time and it was difficult dividing everything up equally, so we both put the same money in and did the same amount of work to it. It just didn't work, so we sold it to get back what we had put into it. I should have just bought him out and kept it.

1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ 2.5TD Orvis Edition

Current daily which I also have an interest in, so to me it is not just a daily hack to get around, I think of it as a modern-classic.

1968 VW T2 Bay Bus (currently being restored and upgraded)

I remember that . . . Sammy really wanted it but I couldn't say it was a good idea . . . I was tempted to have it myself . . . But the 1.3 would've ended up a 3.5 V8 and I didn't need another project.

Need to find, upload and link pics now

Didn't you even come to look at it?

It's a shame really, I think it was cut up for spares but it was much better than that and deserved to be on the road. As I say, if I really thought about it, I would have kept it, but a few hundred quid seemed too tempting at the time and seemed to solve the issue of ownership between me and my housemate.

Problem is, that few hundred is then just swallowed by usual living costs.

The first car I actually Owned, Aged 21, this is part of the reason why at 33 years Old I (touch wood) have still never bought a single Tyre for any car
I loved this car, it was comfortable, reasonably stylish (although I naievely chose a CD changer over Alloy Wheels The 1.4 engine was too small with more than 1.5 people in the car but it was fun.  If I could have kept this when I bought the next car on the list I would have, and I would still buy one of these again today as a Daily (but with a bigger engine)
