Hi everyone,

Just seeing if anyone is interested in coming along to this event we're trying to get off the ground. V8UK is combining with the V8 Owners Forum to just have a good get together over the weekend at Shakey. Don't have to take part in the RWYB can just turn up and enjoy the laid back atmosphere, but the strip will be the place to be.

We'll be going up early Saturday and camping over night just as we did on the recent UK Power Tour, should still be a good day even if you don't stay all weekend, would be a good chance to get all the MKB guys together perhaps?

Prices:

Weekend admission £22 (adv £20)
Day admission £12 (adv £10)
RYWB weekend pass £40 (unlimited runs)
RWYB day pass £25 (unlimited runs)

Was looking to go to a music weekender those dates but Samantha's working Sunday so that's off, now.

The Camaro won't be done so I'd like to take the Caddy but I'll have to bring Jensen, too ....

Jo

We can make the Saturday or Sunday, Chris, Dean can you make this too?  Be good to all go to a Car event together, been a while!

Hmm, have to see on this, might do bbq on the saturday night.....have to play by ear

Jo

Sunday will be best for us as we shall be taking my mum back up north on the Sat.

I was and the rest of the V8UK guys are, but I've been reminded I have a wedding on the Saturday, so most likely end up rocking up first thing Sunday.

Just a heads up for those with Lady friends, it's also 'Ladies that Launch' weekend. So if your other half wants to have a shot with the wimins there should be a few there.

Well we just bought ourselves a shiny new 6 man tent on a bit of an impulse so thinking we should probably use it..

P.S anyone want an old 2 bedroom, 4 man tent, with a slightly dodgy zipper?

Andy

This weekend is shaping up to be pretty good fun. Remember you don't have to race if you don't want to, you can just come along and check out the RWYB action.

There is a V8UK Hero Award up for grabs though, this is a participate vot award. Find any of us in the pits and get a voting slip for your favorite car, driver, some point on Sunday afternoon we'll do the draw and count up the voting slips.

There will also be V8UK Tees up for grabs for fastest V8 of the day and best burn out of the day.

Am considering coming up on Saturday and camping over with Jensen.

Depends on work at the moment, though.

Do you think they'd let me 1/4-mile the Caddy ?

Hmm, not sure on that as this bit would be the possibly reason to say no:

Get scrutineered. The Scrutineer does basic checks to make sure that your car/bike is safe and doesn't have any major fluid leaks - a seasoned scrutineer has seen it all before, so don't try to sneak unbolted seats, loose batteries or worthless brakes past him! Once you have passed he will write a RWYB number on your back window in shoe-white.

not to mention:

5. Seat Belts must be worn.

I *plan* to camp . . . but that's weather dependent . . . . and money dependent.

Andy

Hey guys,

Looking like this could be a great weekend, hoping that the weather gods play ball with us. Remember you don't have to run, you can come and just park up and enjoy the banter.

The Sunday features a Gamblers shootout style bracket race if any of you are interested in taking part.

The RWYB and Shootout both require the cars to be scrutineered and the drivers to be wearing helmets. Most common thing for falling scrutineering is not having a battery hold down or missing wheel nuts. Regards helmets, they don't check the tags in them, they just want to see something on your bonce!

We'll probably only pop up on the Saturday now.  Banns are being read on the Sunday and Katie thinks we should go.

ianjpage

Prob not going to make this as got lots being delivered on the saturday (dishwasher, bed!) and then the offer of double time at work on sunday has been made!!

Weather not looking too bad for Sat, so still planning on going up.

Andy

Damn Chris, won't be there Satirday but have a good day all the same.

It is shaping up to be busy, not just with the V8 lot but there are a fair few events going on at the same time. Ladies that Launch, Gamblers shootout, a few owners clubs as well as preparations for a music festival on site the next weekend. That said, weather is looking great for it!

Can't go, got another wedding to go to this weekend + Pub duties.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

If there is one thing I've learnt from this drag racing lot, it's that no matter what the forecast says, each track has it's own micro climate. Predicted Sunny days = torrential down pours. Rainy days = hotter than the sun.
