You can get lots of different underseal

I think hes gonna go with the 3M one as i can get that from my bodyshop. Would guess that hes planning on doing this at my barn where i have a pit and 500mm axle stands

Rocky

3M is a good make, Only thing i wouldnt do is coat the inside panels behind interior with wax oil if you are going to work near it, messy stuff. I noramlly inject it into the sills etc. Alot of a 3rd gen is galvanized anyway.

U sure? A lot of my old one used to be rusty...

Rocky

Yeah it was but not where it was galvanized,Trouble is alot of people bare metal them not realising it and sand all the coating off.

FUBAR

What is galvanised on them then? I didn't know any of it was. Learn something new every day!

Lots and lots of prep work for this then...  will probably take a Day to get everything Masked up properly.

I'm still considering whether or not to use the Paint-on Hammerite goop I have at home, its mugh more precise with a brush and I can take my time over the details more but the application takes longer.  + I could do it at home.

Oh and Rocky, the SFC's aren't going to happen this month, i've been messed around selling the old car so need to sort some bits on that first.

At Swindon last thursday I realised i'm getting a vibration from the rear end of the Car somewhere.  Suggestions were Wheel Balancing, and Phil suggested it might be the Tail seal or something like that.  However, I popped to BP yesterday to check the tire pressures and the DS Rear was at a measly 13psi  Could this have caused the vibrations?
All tires are now back to 30psi like they should be

Well Last week was successfull as far as the new car goes, everything is now undersealed with POR-15 (which has nearly come off my skin!!) & the new exhaust is fully fitted & sounding Great!!

Piccys:
(The Exhaust pic was just a test-fit so its not fully in place there)

I still have the new Door-Seals to fit yet...

Looks like a very professional job, mate.

Very clean.

EDIT - Will be buying some POR-15 for the Caddy me thinks.

It really is Fantastic stuff, I just wiped the floorpan off with a small towell (read Nappy!) before painting to clean it up which worked very well.
Advise though: WEAR GLOVES!! and something Longsleved.  And the paintbrushes are single use only!! even though its very messy i'd still recommend painting it on rather than spraying TBH...

I have an unopened Pint tin left over m8, won't be enough for the whole job but will help, you can have it cheap.  I used about 1 1/2 Pints to do the underside of my car and that was a very comprehensive coat.  There are a couple of small bits I couldn't get too but i'll find a way!!!

Having seen the underside of both cars I fear the Caddy will be A-L-O-T more difficult to tackle with a paint brush alone.

Maybe a combination of the two.

Also the floor pan is like to require more then just a wipe-down.

Incursus

Probably a good Idea for me to do the duster while the transmission and gubbin's is off the car

Yeah above the Driveshaft was the most awkward part on mine, the back section was made a million times easier by not having any exhaust in the way too + it ment I could get all the heatshields off easily to seal behind them too

Heatshields = Extra weight.

The Central Locking doesn't lock the drivers side door anymore as it moves but doesn't have the strength anymore to lock it.

if i'm going to do 1 I may as well change both... (Ryan Logic)

You're spending a fortune on that thing . . . . I thought you said it was all sorted when you got it !
