I suppose I could re-direct the central heating out there . . . ?

you would have to fix the heating first

It works . . . . . . It's just not controllable . . . . . . .

Giblets

You not allowed to use the garage then Fubar?

I'd use some of that money to bribe your parents rather than pay for a cover!

The thought had crossed my mind...
I've been using the Neighbours Garage for the past 8 months, but on friday Brian comes back from Germany as his contract will have ended and will be bringing his BMW back with him (Which reminds me, but get them a thankyou gift...).  Ian is very posessive over our Garage and if he had his way I wouldn't even have the IROC but he can fk right off on that one, however my mum does understand and is sympathetic to my cause so puts her car outside sometimes, but after a few days it always results in moaning & wingeing from Ian.

If only I had a better job & earned more then I'd have my own place with my own Garage, however I can't see that happening any time soon

Just say the word mate. I know some 'people'.

Quick and painless, but always professional - thats my motto

FUBAR

Nothing is ever simple is it...

turns out the built in washers on the bolts attaching the plastic dizzy cover to the plenum are too big to fit in the recesses in the aluminium cover...

so, does anyone have 3 of these:
0.7mm metric thread (or 36G) 1/2" long (thread) bolts with a 7 or 8mm diam. head, preferably with a nice pattern like a torx (stock) or allen pattern that won't rust that I could have?

0.7mm

Is that pitch? What diameter?

If thay are M3 then we have some stainless alan cap heads at work...

FUBAR

hmm yeah 0.7mm is the thread pitch, diam is... either 1/8" or 4mm I can't tell.

you can have one to compare too if you like...

Titsy

M4x0.7mm sounds probable.... Will have a look...

55starchief

If they are M4x .7 i have about 500,000 at work chemi black button head and countersunk with torx heads also have M3 socket cap

FUBAR

Can't be countersunk as they won't fit the cover.  Blacks ok, but stainless is better...

(god aren't I being picky with peoples generosity!)

I also have a full set of s/steel at the barn all sizes from 2mm-6mm and .5 sizes but they are screw head not torx

Titsy

I found some bright zing button heads M4 x 8mm, but I forgot to bring them home...

No worries m8.

As for tonight's trip out in the car.  The Starter Motor is playing up again, this time refusing to kick in outside Xscape so I think its about time to get it changed, I think its what Deano said when it last did it about the solenoid not working properly...
Looking through the Summit Catalogue that arrived today there's a lot of choice, how can I find out which ones fit? there's different numbers of flywheel teeth and different bolt patterns...

Also is there any particular brands anyone can recomend? a higher torque one would be good but I don't want to spend a total fortune on one, i'm also going to fit a heat shield because the car will eventually get headers so may as well fit the shield now when I have the thing off anyway.

Rocky

I had one in stock a while back can get one in if needed mate 5.7 ones are pretty common

FUBAR

Well, Its been a while since I put anything in here so I thought i'd type up an IROC latest news type doobry.

The Starter motor was changed with relative ease once we figured out which way round it had to be to get past the exhaust i'm not sure if the pipes are bigger on the 5.7 but it literally scraped both sides to get it out.  There was a mild problem with starting again around Xmas time but that just turned out to be dirty contacts on the VATS system inside the Lock Barrel so once PhilO had suggested i check that, it was fixed with a quick wiggle of a cotton bud

As for whats happening with her this year (the first part anyway) i'm currently saving up a bit of Cash so that Rocky can have her in to respray the damaged paint on the Nose (Sometime in March if thats alright m8, will arrange nearer the time)
I'm also planning on having the Shifter & Handbrake handles re-trimmed in leather as they are quite worn at the moment and the shifter one is a bit ripped.

I am at the moment Trying to get the D/S Foglight working again after it blew the new bulb the 2nd time they were turned on  I think its just moisture & stuff but we shall see, at £11 a bulb I don't want to be blowing loads of them!

The doors will be dismantled when I can get hold of a pair of new Lock Actuators for the power locks as one of them is pretty weak, at this time the new Door Seals and Window sweeps will be fitted, as well as the little Chrome Lock thingys I have for the inside.   Part of this refurb will also include sealing the inner door skins in the lower part of the door (not blocking the drain Holes I know) and also grease up all the window mechanisms.   The hope is that i will only have to have the doors dismantled once.

In addition I still have new emblems for the Nose and "5.7 Tuned Port injection" for the rear bumper to fit before the shows start. as well as a couple of the plastic panels for under the dash.
Oh and clean the carpets too

Then before summer kicks off in earnest there will be a full service too

Then she'll be ready for the show season!
