Did you buy it like it or do the work yourself

The only things i've changed are
the dash lights / overlays
steering wheel (old one was worn)
Rear Light Blackouts
Clear Sidemarkers
and fitted the Borla Catback system.

Basically the outstanding condition is down to previous owners & down to me to maintain

Credit goes to Rocky & his Uncle for finding such a good example & importing it.

How much does something like that cost

I'm happy with what i paid, lets put it that way

Apart from the big stereo & 95,000 miles less (not that you'd know) this car is an exact clone of mine...

having seen Ryans car in the flesh many times, i'd personaly expect to pay topside of £6000 to get anything as good...

the opportunity to own a car like this doesn't come along too often now, and cars in that sort of condition are hard to come by, dont confuse ryans with most other thirdgens, what you see in the pics really is how good car is...

Yeah lovely car that one. So it was an import from the states ? I've recently been toying with the idea of importing a early 50's stepside but the logistics scare the hell out of me.

cant wait to see it in the flesh. mine will probably look a nail in comparison but its still a third gen and i love it

Why? its as easy as 123 mate. Just get a good shipping company and your sorted. I used http://www.transoceanauto.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.transoceanauto.com to ship my 55 pontiac across. They dealt with everything on the US side including paying on collection of the vehile and making sure the vehicle wasnt stolen or had any outstanding warrants etc. They even stored the vehicle until a container share was available.

Yeah people do say that its really easy but its more the problem of finding the right car in the first place.

I'd be gutted if i imported a car only to find it wasn't in the condition i thought it was. maybe the answer is to go over there for a couple of weeks and hunt for one. I know you can get companies to go and look at the car butt he prices they charge are very high and if it takes 4 or 5 times to find the right car you could find yourself paying an extra $1500 in their charges

That's the only way I'd go about buying a car.  I'd not really entertain getting one unseen.

I bought mine from pictures and comunication with the seller. If you find the right seller its as easy as that.

If you want a 50's car be prepared to take what you find. Stick to dry states like Arizona or texas, be careful of LA as its by the coast and salt corrosion can be a problem. Mine came from georgia a semi dry state and i got lucky with only a small amount of rust on the floor pan

True, but I think it's fair to say you were buying a car that you were intending to restore, so overall condition wasn't a big issue.

If you're buying a car that you don't want to have to do a lot to, a viewing would be a must, IMO.

If your after 50's metal unless your paying big $$$$ its not gonna be perfect. I paid £9k for the poncho which wasnt a bad price but if it had been £30k which is what it currently stands me then i would have expected it to be perfect

Just looked at their website (never occured to me before) http://www.lindnersorenson.com/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.lindnersorenson.com/

Judging by the cars they sell no wonder you bought it sight unseen!!
