if not, you can solder onto the [old]wires and insulate with heatshrink sleeving ..

some connections to motors and similar, have a type of spot weld as the plating on the contact is unable to take solder ...so the tip above would apply.....

Update:

I got the P/S rear calliper changed this evening, it lost a lot of brake fluid in the processes though so i'm going to have a nice big airlock to clear!

Does Anyone (2 bods maybe just to make things easy?) fancy some garage time tomorrow evening to help me bleed the brakes through once i've changed the D/S calliper?

Pic:

as you might have noticed I decided not to paint them...

Them rotors look a bit rusty now, Zinc wash?

FUBAR

na I can't be bothered with that, anyway those bits of brakes are always rusty...

No mine... I bought zinc palted disks, and even though the car has sat for quite some time, not even the contact area that the zinc has been rubbed off of is that rusty... The galvanic effect of the zinc on the rest of the discs appears to be protecting the bare steel...

The front brake discs I had bright Zinc plated for £30

They are currently our Lazy Suzy on the dinning room table

The Zee currently just has painted discs ( gold caliper paint ).

Hmm  not now, no money

Got the other calliper fitted & the brakes bled through this evening (Cheers for the help Dean)

Unable to test it as the alternator is currently in Bits on my desk awaiting that rebuild kit to arrive from the US...

FUBAR

Alternator stripped, cleaned, painted, rebuilt with shiny new parts, Re-assembled & refitted

And... it works perfectly, Double voltage back up to 14.6v running

Cost: £44 (half of which was shipping)

Most excellent work, young Fubes !

1 Question, how often would the Serp belt need changing?

I don't have any concerns with it atm as it looks fine, Rocky/Mike do you know if it was changed while you had the car?

They start to crack & split around the ridges

if i ever have any doubts abut when a serp belt was installed I just install a new one, they're normally under £15 and less than 10 minutes to swap.  You can always bung the old one in the boot as a spare to get you out of an emergency

FUBAR

Well the IROC had its first proper run out of 2009 this morning & what a day for it eh Its now also had its first wash of 2009 too since coming out of the Barn & being repaired

No problems with the new callipers on the back, no leaks etc which is nice to see

and got my £115 back from JWR for the old Calliper cores too

Happy Fubes today

Rocky

We never changed the belt as it was ok, just check for cracks or change as they are cheap and very quick to change

Gator

always keep a spare serp on board
