Are (3-holed) tri-angular in shape ?

I doubt they'd be rubber . . .

There is only a steel insert which you clean and re-use

Really? hmm fair doos

Nope, 2 bolts, they aren't like 2 flanges (huh huh) that bolt together, more like 2 flared pipes that have something clamped inbetween them (from what I can tell anyway)

The ball-in-socket connections on the GMC didn't have gaskets . . . . Just two bolts clamping them together.

Rocky

Here you go you can put a bit of exhaust paste on them if they are worn a bit but normally just need bolting up

Cheers Ian.

Explanation of the Pics, we got the new Stainless Y-Pipe fitted this weekend (eventually)  It fits perfectly, the cat was exactly the right length to fill the gap left for it after the Y-Pipe and after ensuring everything was done up tightly there are no blows

Only hitch was that in the process of removing the old pipe we sheared 2 of the studs that are in the log manifolds  Luckily Dean was the man with the right tools for the job so after drilling out the old studs we Tapped new threads into the manifold & modified 2 bols that Dean had to replace the broken studs

We also swapped out the Oil Pressure sender & that is now working fine too

Many thanks to Dean & Ian for their help & loan of tools this weekend, its was invaluable

Glad it all got sorted . . . to be honest it could've gone alot worse . . .

FUBAR

yeah well, compared to yours Martyn its always gonna look worse underneath.

I'd have to dismantle everything to make all that surface rust look decent properly, and the rest of the car is all undersealed anyway and is fine.

I did have 1 worried moment driving back from Dean's yesterday afternoon with the T-Tops off, I thought the computer had thrown a Code & lit the SES light... but then I turned the corner and and the sun changed angle & it "went out" so I figured it was ok...
