??????????

Never been to the Ace before - would love to do this, unfortunately we'd arranged a BBQ at our house tonight so can't make it.

Is that a 55/56 'Vert you've got now Motorama ?

'Looks very sweet.

Caddy Man now, Then.

Always was a Caddy man Dean. Have in the past owned a 68 Fleetwood, a 60 Convertible and a 56 Sedan De Ville. I bought the 59 Olds because i couldnt find a Caddy i liked at the time and if i didnt buy something the wife would have spent the dough on a kitchen.
You didnt miss much at the Ace last night , it was a poor turnout considering how many nice Cadillacs there are around. Shame as its a great venue for car meets.

I seem to recall you mentioning something before.

That's a real shame.

I went to the NSRA Super Nats today - Excellent turn-out - They was really packing them in.
Good selection of cars and some very nice early 50's Caddy's.

I still haven't had the chance to meet up with you and have a natter.

I've been keeping a look out for a 55 Coupe DeVille as I love the styling, but haven't really had a good look around yet.  Would like to see your '56 in the flesh - she looks very straight.

Not sure what other shows i'm doing this year, I might go to Classics on the Green at Croxley on Wed night and then maybe onto the ACE for Hot Rod noght

there's a few more pics of the 56 on my webshots page

Very nice.

I must admit, I'm not normally a fan of Continental (sp) kits but the one you've got on that suits the car very well.

Are those spot lights on the fenders a factory option or were they a custom addition ?

As far as shows - I've got the AACI all-clubs penned in for August and the AAC-UK Autumn Nats in September (I believe).

When's Hot Rod night at the ACE ? - Might pop down to that although the water pump on the Caddy's now failed and the carb is flooding petrol out of it's gaskets.  I think I'm going to put her to bed for the Winter and use the Camaro.

But you never know . . .

The connie kit is a custom made on using the dagmars from a front bumper. It looks neat and doesnt add too much length to the car as some do. The car is a tidy driver, not a show car. I wanted a car i could use and have fun in this time round. The 59 Olds i had was almost too nice and was a bit of a liability.

The spotlights were a factory option i think, they have Cadillac logos on them.

I hope to do the All Clubs Rally in a couple of weeks.

Hot Rod night at the ACE is always the first Wed of the month. It usually gets pretty crazy with burnouts, wheelis etc. The Croxley thing this Wed is a smaller version of the Harpenden one, but without the need for pre entry.

Also have a small petrol leak from the carb on the 56. Rebuild kits are only a few bucks so shouldnt be a big problem mate.

About $16 I believe.  I've got a kit - just need to find the time.

To be honest, I need to stop using her - she was insured for 1500 miles this year . . . After a quick count-up with shows and meets she's done well over 2000 !!!

Not too bad for an all-original lump.

She's getting tired, now, though - I should've pulled her off the road when the water pump started leaking but I enjoy her too much - I'll be sorry to put her to bed this year - she probably won't be out again for a while.

I suspected as much I'd never seen one like it, as you say - it looks good.

have you got another water pump? 57-60 pumps are a bit of a nightmare, they weigh a ton and cost a fortune to get shipped and most places want a core charge too.
There used to be a place up north that would press out the old bearing and press in a new one and a new seal too. we used to go up on the train and they did it while you waited when i worked at Dream Cars.

Roadkill

Kanter Auto wanted a core but I found a couple of people on ebay .com.
