Forum Suggestion ?

Why not have the new topic forum box default to General Banter ?
It has to be the most popular forum and if anybody ( yes I mean me ) forgets to change it it doesn't end up in official news

G is right, the drop box is in the same order as the forum, which means you'd have to change the order of them, but I think that News sould be at the top.

I may be able to <shudder> Hardcode something in so that it defaults to Banter.  Give me a bit of time.

Alternatively, go to the forum that you want to post in (like the old days) and then click new post.

I agree with FBody.

I HATE HATE HATE the fact that the default is the news forum.
Because, obviously, I don't have access to it so when I fill in a post and submit it it tells me I can't post there.  When I click back to choose the correct forum the POST button is greyed out.  So I have to click refresh and re-enter my post from scratch.

I wasn't aware of this.  It gives me more reason to sort it out. (The other alternative is to remove the 'quick new post' option from the page.
