Although I'd love to go I think £150 is a little steep. My car is just a street car so it goes well enough on the street.

Would Avon be any cheaper?

Or maybe a runway. I mean Jeremy Clarkson seems to be able to hire a runway for his vids.

I know they used to do drag racing over at Northweldt (sp?) aerodrome. Maybe somewhere like that.

I think £50 is about the most I'd pay to drag race my Camaro at a proper strip, as it doesn't cost anything to go out to a decent road and run against someone for fun on the street.

I want to play with shock settings, tyre pressures, and adjusting the roll on the axle as well as tweeking the motor to give me the best performance.

But to be able to do that, you need to be able to drive the car consistently enough to be able to tell if those changes do anything.
I doubt there's many of us at that stage yet. Further down the line though, yes.

Now thats what seperates the men from the boys mate, see i tend not to think about things i just do them. I couldnt weld until i picked up the torch, same with spraying never even held a spray gun but hey what do you know i can paint.never ported a cylinder head but guess what its not gonna stop me doing the heads on the 400. So racing is gonna be no different as far as i am concerned

Unfortunately this don't always work out in real life, how many times have I told you stories where I have spared with someone who looks like they aren't that good and they have wiped the floor with me.

Confidence if very useful most of the time but sometimes you need to step back and think about what you are doing before doing it and think about what the effect might actually be.

This is not to say I wouldn't give anything a go at least once, hell me and Titsy jumped out of a plane for god sake.

Rocky

The runway is in watford, very old and tired now, security is tight because they film there, but i know some blokes that work on the set and i know there is a back entrance.

Indeed but there is a difference between confidence and over confidence. I know that anything i want to do i can do. Life experience has taught me that. Im natural gifted by the fact that i learn exceptionaly quickly

I'm guessing this is the one you mean...???

Runway idea seems cool, bearing in mind we have access to *cough* superior timing equipment.

I'd never pay £150 for a day at Santa pod unless I was rich or stupid.

I am neither.

Yup looks like the HSE has screwed it god i hate it when some government agency screws with what i want to do. So much for fredom to do what you like

300bhp per ton

There must be some more airfields though. I know there's one over at Bovingdon (Nr Hemle Hampstead).

The site is split in two halfs, saldy one side is know used (ruined) by a paintballing site. The other is used as an out door market. But the runway itself may still be for hire, not sure.

Big Mouse

I did hear that Bruntingthorpe was available to hire for not a lot of money for time trials; I think you can hire it by the hour, the half day etc

lol im just on the phone to them but in a loop

Shifty

why not jsut do a RWYB day at the pod on a quiet weekend. I went down there with dan on a quiet day and it cost him 25 sheets for as many runs as he wanted. The place was so empty a couple of time he drove of the track, through the pit lane and back on again without Q ing.

Just need to make sure we keep all of the time slips and not let on that we are racing for a prize (or at least braging rights).

nope council served a noise injunction on them and thus they can no longer offer the track for time trialing cost for the short track used to be £2500 for the day exclusive

The guy also said that the council have done the same to donnington park apparently the councils are joining forces to stop all noisey pursuits so i wonder how long before the POD falls victim to this nanny state we all live in

Roadkill

Seems odd, because unless you're within 1/2 a mile of a drag strip, even top-fuellers aren't that loud.
