Having discovered that the 4 BBL and 3x2 BBL set-ups on Cadillacs use diferent dizzys I set about finding a Tri-Carb Dizzy.

Take a look at this . . . and then the pictures :

The reason he states for needing one is to be able to adjust the points.

As all my old cars have run points -

what is involved in fitting electric ignition ?
Can I do it to my car ?
What does this do, exactly ?
By doing this will it mean I can use my original 4 BBL Dizzy ?

Leccy stuff ain't my thing so I'm clueless on this one . . .

Ta.

What's involved, though

from memory not a lot its a small board you fit inside the dizzy and a couple of wires, you could probably swap to a crank trigger and ditch the dizzy all together

I haven't fitted one for years, but the last one I did just had a control unit which mounted on the bulkhead and then a sensor ( like one half of the points ) which replaced the points and sat next to the rotor.
Two wires went to the sensor from the control unit and two wires ( one earth ) from the control unit.

Took about an hour all in

What size is your motor again as MSD make a dizzy for the caddy 368, 425, 472 and 500 cubic inch engines.

Dean, a lot of guys over here are using these kits to get electronic ignition and you don't have to change the dizzy. Carl

Sweet.

That looks like the jobbie.

Motorama
