The warm air one will be worse than what you've got now.
The other one is shiny.
Depends if you want to spend money on shiny bits or go faster bits.

the fender well ones are allegedly good for  8 - 10 bhp as they draw air from the same location as stock, but without all the silencing baffles..

the plan is;

cold air intake
TB spacer
x pipe
cat back

i'm guestimating around 200 bhp after these mods... stock is between 150 and 170 BHP depending on who's figures you believe..
so a 30 BHP increase from those parts seems realistic.

Pod

What baffles have you got in your intake tube?
I'd be surprised if the stock tube caused a 5% power loss over the shiny one.

With 200bhp you won't be far behind me (225 stock) - fancy a race?

philoldsmobile

you aint stock though!!!!

i'd be interested to dyno the car before and after to see if the 8bhp claim is actualy true..

a lot of the quick N/A V6 SN95's run them though....

Not far off though. The only engine mod I've done to increase power is port the lower intake.

One of the many guys at work who used to work at SuperChips was telling me how they would regularly test induction 'upgrades' and they would reduce performance. They would then tune the car on the dyno to sqeeze out a few extra horses and the test results from that would be used for the after fitting claimed improvement.

They manufacturers make statements on the packaging that are carefully worded so that they don't lie, but lead you to believe that bolting on their shiny thing will give you X HP more....

EDGE

i wouldnt get the BOMZ one dude... they "apparently" had issues with qualit of their other products a while ago....

theyre not magic power adders, and may not even improve things over a BRAND new ford panel filter.... worth a go if you like the sound though...

philoldsmobile

ya know, i kinda thought about a fram air hog or K&N filter in the stock housing too....

EDGE

a k and n panel will probably be ok, they seem to work on most things

philoldsmobile

its a cone type filter as standard

Isn't that an oxymoron?
