For as long as i can remember i have had to modify everything i own. I blame it on watching Home Improvment on TV as i was growing up. The mantra of More Power still rings true today. I just cant help it i cant do stock

My first RC car a tamiya Madcap was great but it needed that little xtra so after a couple of motor changes ending up with a 10turn quad and an electric speed controller i had a car that was fast as hell but lasted for 2 mins

After this i got into mopeds and spent many a sunday de restricting yamaha pasola's to race them on the fields around where i lived

Skip forward to my first car a Skoda Estelle with the 1300 motor, pulled the stock carb and dropped on a twin choke webber off a MKII escort along with a group N exhaust found in the back pages of the motoring news

That was it i was hooked and wanted more power so i buy my self a SAAB 9000 turbo, bleed the boost, polybushbthe entire car, tarrox 40 groove discs and koni's all round made for a great sleeper

During this time i was hankering for some american muscle but couldnt convince my folks to let me store it, so decided a off road sand rail built around a Fiat 126 could be a bit of fun. Bought the kit and a old 126 and started the build, 24hp from 650cc seemed a little poor for my liking so pull the motor apart and start the re build, full ballance, shot peene the rods cross drill and knife edge the crank, forged pistons and the head ported to a crazy degree, still not quite there so call up kent cams and have the cam shaft re ground. re build the motor to find a monster is now alive. No tickover below 2k due to the extreme cam grind but a huge torque curve enough to pull wheelies

Soon after i bought the 55 starchief and started on that

The 9-3 was next full stainless steel system and EBC grooved discs only on this one as it was a piece of junk compared to the 9000 its only saving grace was 2 summers of open top driving

Then browsing ebay i came across a nitro RC car bought it and started again only this time i was a little older and had learnt a few tricks. Out with the dremmel and a quick port job made it a little quicker then came the tunned pipe onl now it was to quick to control topping out at 60mph so i added a gyro from a heli to apply opposite lock when the back started to step out. What a summer i had with that toy going through a set of tyres in about 8 days

Decided it was a little boring and sold it to buy the MONSTER GT that no sits on top of my fridge. Again the stock tires were a little small so add on some 9" Jumbo kongs, then add a 3hp motor and fuel injection roll cage and digital radio gear

Decided it was time to get my own place so sell the 9-3 and buy a diesel chavscort, first job poly bush the whole car

And thats just some of the things there is the chainsaw that was powered up with a new bar and quick chip chain, the rotavator that had the head skimmed the list goes on am i the only person who does this

hmmmm.... cat? pigeons?

1st car, talbot solara.. stock

2nd car, renault 11 GT turbo aniversiry; hybrid turbo used but large ally intercooler, bleed valve, group a carb and el cheapo back box

3rd car 1978 capri 1600 auto; few bits shaved / smoothed, larger carb (from 2 liter) pipercoss air filter.. (ok, no biggie)

4th car 1968 cortina (formerly lotus) 1630 x-flow, 4 brance s/steel exhaust man, hypertutetic pistons, 3/4 race piper cam, bullet gearbox, lower 3", poly bushed, mounty steering wheel, AVO gas adjustables all round, (loved that car)

5th car volvo 340; daily hack stock as a rock

6th car: 1967 cortina mk2 1300 delux; not much except for a rather tasty rover V8 and 5 speed manual.. stock brakes too!

7th car, 1959 ford Zodiac lowline; pulled  the stock s/six and three speed manual, bagan instalation of ford 302 and C6. sold due to loss of garage before completion..

8th car 1968 triumph 2000 mk1; nothing done, only had it a month

9th car 1964 Zephyr 6 mk3; nothing, was a pile of junk, and sold after a week, could put the exxon valdese to shame...

10th car, 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme; aquired as a bit of a mess, resprayed, rear light tints, changed cam, rockers, inlet carb dizzy, valve covers and lots of misc shit.. went better but still ran like crap due to mis matched carb and inlet..

11th car, 1984 Metro 1.0; aquired as a freeby when the oldsmobile was in for repaint, started out as 2 cars, one rotten one written off but with nearly a year MOT and tax.. parts from the rotten car were grafted (badly) onto the written off one to make one rather nasty runner... given to a friend after about a month for free because i hated it so much!

12th car, 1982 Vauxhall chevette; family hairloom, so not really modded, my life would have been ended if it was! gained a set of wider wheels and amounty steering wheel.. would have loved to put a vauxhall 16v 2lt in it!

13th car, 1986 Chevrolet Camaro; not that much, because the car was so straight and genuine, it would have been a shame to mess with, stripes, APC steering wheel edlebrock air filter, mr gasket breathers, flowmaster exhaust, 99 Z28 4th gen interior, tail light covers, and american racing outlaw 2 wheels

14th car; 1992 Ford Chavscort 1.4 LX; not much needs to be said here!

15th car; 1988 Chevrolet astro 4.3; worked fine as is, so no mods

16th car; 1996 ford mustang 3.8; hmmmmm.... boxes have started to arrive.. will remain normally aspirtated, but wil have some mild, mainly breathing and appearance mods.. target is c. 220 BHP

couple of modded, and a couple of standard bikes too...

so not generaly any big mods (cept the zodiac and cortina), but quite often a few little tweaks to suit..

1st car, 1988 Mustang; few mods, lots more planned.

Erm, that's it.

Modded quite a few computers though...

Damn philo thats a lot of cars but what about daily items my power up addiction seems to cross into everyday objects. I cant help looking at something and wondering if it could be fitted with a bigger motor or some other upgrade.

I went to buy a hand mixer the other week and after going to 4 stores looking for the biggest motor i went back and bought the first one

Maybe we should create a "Group Therapy" forum section.

my computer is modded! only the stock motherboard and floppy drive left!

my RC car was pretty much custom build, so there is that..

The mods to the Z28 are :

Stainless Steel cat back exhaust because the origninal was all rusty.
Painted brake calipers because they were going rusty.
Cooling fan over ride switch - well hidden.
Kumho tyres because the Goodyears are no longer made.
Clifford Alarm - Insurance requirement.

A few other bits and pieces either replaced with NOS or refurbed

Roadkill

Can someone sum up what Graeme said in two sentences . . . . I got kinda bored.

How about 1 sentence.

"I can't leave, well enough, alone."

Sums up most of us I think
