its getting a bit boring in its format

exactly what i said, when clarkson left the original TG it slowly went down hill until the BBC canned it. When it came back it was fresh and new. But since the show came back it hasnt really evolved.

As i have already said there are only so many super cars you can test, after seeing one car slide around a track the next one is going to look the same.

What TG really needs is a subtle mix of the original format blended with the new series.

In the USA they have road and track(think thats what its called) as a tv show. the cars are tested for braking cornering etc as well as being driven on bothe road and circuit

Why cant we have a motoring show along those lines

Katie Price aka Jordan is far from being a chav - Jordan may be but Katie isn't. How many of you were smart enough to manufacture an alter ego entirely seperate from your home life that could earn what she has?

She's earnt more from shrewd property deals than she ever earnt from getting her norks out. I've had some dealings with a man whose dealt with her on a business level several times - very tough cookie is Katie. A very bright girl who knows exactly what she's doing

The bechams are also shrewd in there business dealings but are still chavs, i have had dealings with her father and he was as much a chav as they are.

Just because some one has money doesnt mean they have class

How do you work that one out?? They both had/have succesful careers - most chavs couldn't spell work never mind do any

Neither have ever been accused of drug taking or David of knocking Posh up when she was 13

Neither can be accused of buying their clothing from George @ Asda

Their cars alone should exempt them from being chavs - Becks has had Ford and Chevy pickups in his garage. Redneck? maybe but I don't think so. I bet you won't find a Nova etc in there though

You wouldn't recognise a chav if one came up and mugged you for a can of kestrel

55starchief

Posh and becks are the chav royalty mate, they are what chavs only wish they could be

Sunday's viewing figures have just been released :

Sunday nights Top Gear average audience was 7.9 million viewers with a spike peaking at 8.6 million viewers near the finale of the show.
Those figures easily beat Top Gear's previous record of 5.3 million viewers set last season, and it was enough to make the episode the most watched show in Britain last Sunday, beating the finale of Celebrity Big Brother

Which just goes to show that people are twisted and like to see nothing more than a big crash.

Post the figures for next week  and am guessing they will be a lot less

..as opposed to channel 4 which was just showing Z list celebrity bigots, racists and bullies slagging each other off. Which of the 2 shows has wandered off the moral highway the furthest?

Fact of life is that TV shows live off their ratings - 7.9 million people wanted to watch a crash rather than Big Ego Brother. It also happened to be the first show of the season after the crash; its hardly suprising it was going to be shown.

well seeing as i dont watch that either i could really care less. I tend to stick to the discovery channel. I like to watch programs showing how stuff is amde and works. I would rather see how giant earth movers are made than watch a bunch of Z list celebs bitching amongst themselves. See enough of that when i worked in the theater,TV and film industry

That's really funny because the Yanks can't get enough of Top Gear, they love it out there.

And the most common statement is US motoring shows suck and they wish they had more shows llike Top Gear. I can direct you to many US forums stating this if you like

er as far as i know they no longer show top gear in the usa, last time i see it was over 3 years ago

***edit***

As i thought

As of May 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), Top Gear has been shown in North America on the Discovery Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_Channel). The American format is different from the British format, with the news and talk show segments cut to make room for commercials. The show consists of old stories from the British version shown with the studio segments specially recorded for the North American viewers, even though it still is on the same set with the same hosts of the British version.

Currently the North American version is no longer being produced for the Discovery Channel, and the show no longer has a link on the Discovery Channel's website. However, Discovery has recently said that the show was not "taken off the air" but rather ran its pattern. It is being revamped for a U.S. audience and will return later this year. Look for it in December.

As i have seen this when being in the USA on numerous occasions it is totaly different to the UK version more a montage of UK top gear parts spliced with clarckson not being a complete tool

Roadkill

I remember reading a US Forum where the guys were complaining at the version of TG they got.

They said the UK version was far superior to anything available at that time in the states and that the "Britishness" added to the entertainment.

I'm not a fan of TG.  Or any other program involving modern cars.

But that's what I read.

+1

Also you'll find most of the guys watching in the US and whole also participate in forums actually download most of the episodes and articles. There are quite a few good sites for it.

So this is a minority number of viewers then, its not mainstream viewing in the USA

Unfortunately this is very much a sad reality, every time I talk to people about SantaPod or mention I was there at the weekend the first question they ask is did you see any crashes.
Just goes to show that we are all getting de-sensitized to what is going on around us and unless something really shocks us we don't find it as entertaining.

That's not to say this is true of everyone,

That's why we should have a fence between the two carriageways like a lot of the French motorways, that way only one side of the carriageway is stuffed
