New Tyres for the IROC

Just ordered from mytyres.co.uk

2 x Kumho ECSTA SPT KU31 245/50 R16 97W BSW

A reasonable £79.60 per corner.

Could have gone for 2 different budget sub £50 tyres, but as I have the Ecstas already and they are the better tyre I thought I'd best stick with them.

Couldn't use Shifty's ahem... password as it gave me no opportunity to punch it in!

What was the carriage and fitting at your local tyre centre? I have found that a lot of the independants can be just as cheap when you factor in the above.

I just had 4 new tyres fitted on the chavscort and they charged me £30 cash to fit and ballance along with disposal of the old casing. Which i dont mind seeing as the tyres were only £12 each for hankooks from the old man

Haven't got them yet but may well wait until I service the car at Rocky's in April.

Let me know how much fitting costs as these are my (and Martyn's) tyre of choice (size and everything).... I paid £84 per corner at Buckingham Tyre and Exhaust, I'd be interested to know if it worked out cheaper, although it doesn't look like i'd save much....

Was that with the 10% discount that shift mentioned?

It's a shame they aren't a 45 profile, at least you get 6 to choose from instead of 3, of which only 1 is remotely worth going for.

People on the other forum I subscribe to have used this as recently as the 31/01/07 and it still works.

Shame you couldn't get it to work, it could have saved you another 18 sheets.

Mine were £70 something from Blackcircles.com , Pristine did the fitting along with the wheel refurb, I think Blackcircles quoted £30 to fit,valve and balance all four at an independent fitter ?

Edit : Delivery was £9 next day

The thing is that there isnt the margin in tyres anymore. Most of the profit is in the fitting and ballancing, remembering that there is also casing disposal charge.

Most independants will do you a deal. More and more are now charging more to fit the customers own tyres so the savings are kinda false

I did try to get the promotional code in Shifty, but looked and looked and couldn't find the box to put it in.

Anyway tyres have arrived already so at least I got what I wanted.

This is part of the reason I want to change my rims to 17"'s... I paid £84 a corner (which is the cheapest I found) for the same contact patch on the road...

I was asking because the tread pattern is different to the Kumho's I have... The ones show seem to have quite alot of slick area, a little like the Avon ZV3's I have on the Focus, which I can't fault.... Although the Focus isn't exactly a performance car...
