How accurate is this page's definitions?

Couldn't care less to be honest.
That kind of list is usually made by someone with nothing better to do, who should really get out more.

yup, thats just effort and im to damn lazy to read it all

Looks like a personal opinion list to me. Any car can be a "Muscle Car" given enough muscle. LOL

As for what cars are generally recognized as "Muscle Cars", the list is rather short.

Titsy

I'm on the list, what do I care.... Although classing it as 'Pony' car makes it sound like a Mustang...

Good point. Yours is probably more a Donkey.

At the end of the day there was only one muscle car and one GM division that produced it under one visionary

That would be John Delorean, the GTO and Pontiac all others are mear imitations with one exception. . . .

. . . . the very first muscle car ever built which was in 1954 by Mercades Benz and it was the 300SL Gullwing

Titsy

I think my definition of a muscle car is any car that has aggressive styling, and a V8 under the hood... I think when talking engines muscle is more about torque than a high reving horsepower machine...

Jamieg285

Sort of agreed with the Camaro description, until I read the Firebird option.  Mines got a 400, so it must be a muscle car

Well it would be if it worked properly

Going to check my timing advance this weekend, see if that's caused my drop in power.

with a 1972 cut off

Not so sure about that... Muscle cars are still being built today, and heres the proof:

All classic muscle cars should be painted matt or satin black though...

Rob

Could almost have been created by one of them saddo's who has to put everything in its own little box.

Pop Music,Rock Music,Dance Music,Classical Music.......Its just music!

HardRockCamaro

The 1972 cut-off narks me.

What the hell does year have to do with car *type*.

CJ-IROCZ

What about the grand national GNX of the 80's , thats a muscle car if there ever was one,.

Labels/ tags get applied to everything and its no big deal but its when nob ends, like the writer of that web site, up hold it as if it were set in stone by the lord himself

So a chevy monte carlo is to expensive to be a muscle car but a dodge daytona is fine Hmmm somethings not right there

FUBAR

TBH its a phrase.  I was interested to see what people made of the authors opinion, if I picture a Muscle car what 1st springs into my head is normally 60s / 70s big block & 2 doors, however my opinion of what I consider muscle cars is wider than that.

HardRockCamaro

I picture an LS1 Camaro as much as I picture a 69 Camaro or a Mopar whatever.

Nope muscle cars were 60's metal only. It was a period of big HP motors in compact cars. where they had previously been in Full size

How can you classify a 3rd gen or a 4th gen as a muscle car when there are no full size cars to compare them to by the manufacturer?

Titsy

I stand by my definition, that's what a muscle car is to me...

I stand by mine that if it wasnt for pontiac and john delorean  this discusion wouldnt be taking place

Titsy

Just because Pontiac may (or may not) have gone there first, doesn't mean they have the monopoly on what makes a car a muscle car though...
