Why the hell would someone have even the slightest inclination to set fire to something like that? whats the point? the ship is a piece of this country's history, part of its identity in a way and some fkr thinks its a good idea to turn it into a Barbecue!!

They should be made to walk the plank into shark waters once its rebuilt!

The only consolation is according to the BBC they had the ship in bits & most of it away for restoration at the time so at least thats one thing.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

EDGE

i know, i was just reading about it.... in 1889 it pulled out and over took a P&O steam ship !!!!!!

it is a piece of history and when they find who did this they should chop them up in to very small pieces, bit by bit, starting at the feet so they can eel all the pain, and to stop the bleeding how about a blow torch....

assholes !!!!!

No F*cking respect.

It's sad that monuments such as this demand 24/7 security . . .

The whole thing's just sad . . .

Apparently arson in a naval dockyard is still a crime punishable by hanging...

Keel haul them.

Ideally using a supertanker or aircraft carrier...

I despair as to the character/brainpower of the average muppet nowadays.

And these people can vote.

And use the Internet to find more people just like themselves.

And reproduce.

Common misconception I'm afraid, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_the_United_Kingdom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_the_United_Kingdom

Capital punishment repealed for:

1965 - Murder (Abolition of Death Penalty Act)
1971 - Arson in Royal Dockyards (Criminal Damage Act)
1981 - Armed Forces Court Martial (Armed Forces Act)
1998 - Treason & Piracy (Crime and Disorder Act)

Plus in 1998 the Human Rights Act closed the door completely

The Privy Council (above the House of Commons, below the Queen) which is responsible for Commonwealth nations has also tried to enforce the no-captial punishment on Jamacia for 10 years, which wants to leave so it can keep it
