FUBAR

I'm around, I can start cleaning up the Trailer if you like, & get the plywood off.

We need to make some plans for Layouts too.

I worried that each of us has their own idea and none of them match each others.

I recommend some pads and paper for the initial sessions, and maybe some offcuts of wood and a jigsaw to do some mock ups??

What is the plan for the weekend?

I have the Same concerns m8.  The 1st time this became really aparant was when me & phil dropped the trailer off at the barn, he Jumped up on it & said something like "Soon we'll be standing here Cooking Burgers" to which my reply was "Na m8, you're facing the wrong way..."

We NEED to agree something on Paper, Get the Trailer Measured up etc.
I believe that this may come up in conversation tonight... if it does I'll scan in any piccys for all to see...

Philo,

Can we get away with 25x50 as if we go up to 60x40 it jumps from £15 to £25 per 7.5m. Wall thickness was 2.5mm

i guess we could, i see no reason why not....

deano - whadda you reckon?

i think we are all about agreed on the basic design.. we know roughly how much steel we need..

should be able to start cutting steel next weekend?

the origional plan is now about watertight, its just evolving with the locker layout as ideas mature, while looking at the chassis

TBH, the chassis has much more steel in it than we expected, and in that regard, will save us a lot of fabrication, its just so made for the job its unbelievable..

Hey Art,

Did you say you had a mig welder? if so what size is it?

indeed we have! :)

as with the tank itself, we just couldn't have imagined how perfect the chassis is for the job!

this is MKB at its best - making things happen and leading from the front..

major assault on this next sat guys?

Jamieg285

I'll try, but it's looking unlikely

art b

yep the mig is a 130 amp turbo thing,
means its got a fan to keep it cool,
sip =jobbie, got some 8mm gassless wire too, dunno how much ya need though!

should do fine for tacking the frame in place..

any chance of wheeling it over to the barn next w/end mate?

art b

yea remind me nearer the time,
it will be more than enough for what ya need, never mind tacking bits on!

50x25x2.5+ RHS = 2.72 kg/m
60x40x2.5+ RHS = 3.71 kg/m.

That's why 60x40 is so much dearer . . . Also 50x25 (2"x1") is more popular, so stock holders will carry larger stocks of them . . .

50x25 would be fine . . . . My only concern is the 2.5mm(+) wall thickness . . . . Typically 3mm(+) or 3.2mm(+) are more suitable for welding and are still both lighter sections compared with 60x40x2.5.
